Soloing the first mission

The one time I managed to complete the first mission was sometime yesterday. It finally worked when I started a solo session and didn't have to wait for other players. Eventually, though, my character got deleted and I had to start over.

Now when I try to solo the following happens:

The intro video plays, my character walks into the mission start area. I then get the blurred view of Los Santos for 5-10 seconds. After that the view goes back to the parking lot, where cars glitch in and out of appearance, as well as my character which warps around and ends up in the middle of the mission start area again. Now a loading icon appears and it goes back to the blurred screen. Stays there for forever, with the loading icon still there.

Any way past this?

I had that last night. I restarted and went straight into story mode then from the pause menu went to solo mode and it finally worked. It seemed to workn better when going to story mode first instead of pressing x to go straight to online

I always do it that way. If I go straight into online mode I get stuck at "Waiting for other players". I've been resetting the game around 10 times now with the exact same outcome.

Great is probably going down again it worked great from like 1030 last night until an hour ago for me

thats strange b/c i tried solo several times and couldn't get it, but then I tried INVITE ONLY and it worked on the first try I was able to do all my tutorial missions flawlessly and change rooms, shut down and nothing lost.

 

But my girlfriend was in the other room on her xbox and she tried both ways and still nothing has worked for her.

That sucks. Thanks for the input anyways.

 

Also, I found a better way than resetting the console. Just turn off your router or cut off your internet connection however you can. This way you'll go back to singleplayer mode even if you're stuck on a loading screen or something, then you can go straight back to online instead of having to reset the game.

I just tried this. It produced the exact same result except it says "Waiting for other players" instead of "Loading". I'm on PS3, by the way.
