is it down to internet speed

i am having trouble with getting online with gta5 i am wondering if it down to internet speed i am on only 4meg and my stepson is on 40meg and he is getting on straight away also my mates nephew is getting on and he has 11meg would be interesting to see what speeds people are getting if they can/cannot get online its just a thought

Well I have a solid 79mbps / 16mbps fibre connection & I couldn't get online until yesterday. Then I lost a character - and then a car through it not saving properly.

 

I think it is probably still server overload at this point, maybe the routing determines what cluster you get connected to (or not).

 

Are you all on the same ISP?

Multiplayer games require very LITTLE amounts of bandwidth. A 256kb/s connection would suffice.

You can create a wi-fi spot using your phones data connection.

I live in the countryside so have 3.80 down and I was on all day yesterday, although my character did get deleted, along with thousands of other peoples.

Yer, deffo isn't to do with speed. I'm on a consistent 60d/l had an hour play yesterday resulting in a corrupt save, stuck on launching race since

Same here, I tether to my PS3 from my iphone 5s on 3 with all you can eat data.

 

Believe it or not where I live I get a constant 16mbps upload and 7mbps download.

 

And that was more than sufficient for the 6 hours I did last night.

It certainly helps. But it isn't vital. NAT type also important.

 

I only have 0.7 megs (live in the countryside) and it's sh*t for me. All games are usually delayed and laggy for me but in GTA 5 and RDR I can't even join games with more than 2 players.

 

Actually, right now I have 0.4 megs because of a storm.

 

It's funny because I connected to GTA 4 over the past five years with ease. It seems newer games reqiure you to have a better connection. But it doesn't matter for most people because if you have 3 or more MB/s you can play anything with ease.

No I'm sure connection isn't the issue. Everything worked fine for me once I got past the race/tutorial introduction. I say this because I'm on WiFi: 5d/2up
