Yeah if I am by myself I would probably leave. The thing is that lately I've been playing with a solid group of people and so when one of us gets taken out by these asshats and needs helps we get into it, thus leaving is not an option. Placing a bounty on those types of players is a great tip I forgot to mention so good looks there. That last heavy round into their skull is always fun before they cower back into the fetal position, I mean passive.

That's but one reasons why I avoided competitive shooters or horde modes such as with Mass Effect or Dragon Age Inquisition. I get the feeling quite a few mistakenly take GTAO for being COD urban warfare.

Tip for the future: Go passive as you enter the store. Then, when some troll comes in firing, trying to get that cheap kill, text them, "*Yawn* Cheap, predictable, and sad. :("

D-bags for me are the ones that abuse passive by jumping in and out for kills/avoiding deaths. You know the ones. Don't be that guy. If you are going to use passive do it while minding your own business, like when you are shopping or customizing vehicles.. etc.. not in the middle of a battle (unless you are truly done) and not to go get your Pegasus vehicle of choice ya friggen D-bags.

A lot of them don't seem to understand that it's purely to keep them from going passive. Come near my yacht in passive it's an instant bounty. Attack me then go passive, same.

Or they troll you in their explosive-rounds overpowered jet, and anything you say is "salty" (their favorite word--somehow supposed to make them feel justified for being douches).

 

But in all honesty, I'm not angry at them--and here's why:

 

Cockstar are the ones who put the overpowered jet in the game, destroying game balance, which I can't even defend myself against using the mini-gun, because jets easily distance themselves from it, surviving well enough to make a second and third strafing pass. And(!) neither are they subject to having to deal with an instant three- or four-star wanted level just for defending themselves...so I get to fight terminator LSPD and try to defend myself against an overpowered jet all at the same time.

 

There are no LSPD jets that suddenly appear and spank his little jet a** for trolling players minding their own business.

 

Needless to say, Shy* has managed to go beyond the ridiculous with game balance and wanted levels. It's almost at the point where I ask myself, "I like the game, but why on earth am I putting up with this BS?"

LOL. That's the biggest slap in the face. Not only do I have to deal with a jet piloted by a sentient bag of vinegar and water, I get the privilege of getting slaughtered by the LSPD for defending myself in a fight that I never wanted any part of in the first place. GG R*.

Don't feel special, I invite everyone to my appartment. Why? Well to see my ugly over priced vehicles of course. That and to offer a fast travel to the city if anyone needs it.

 

Edit* I love when someone invites me to their apartment for these reasons. Sometimes I don't want to fly across the map to get back to the city and sometimes I really want to see other players vehicle choices.

Just don't accept their invites and/or change sessions. Sure, they're annoying, but there isn't much they can do--kill them over and over again if they follow you.

 

Public free roam is a bit alien to me overall, but when I happen to win a race or play against others in TDMs, I hear a lot of their mic comments--most are amusing in a pathetic, I feel so bad for this person sort of way and some are just borderline hostile and even bigoted. At the end of the day though, they're just randoms and they will likely not remember you nor will you remember them.

I have one male and one female character, no mic, and back when I actually spent time in free-roam, my male character got invites and air thrusts in their apartment as often as the female character. That's what creeped me out

Yes, same here. When there's the opportunity I always play a female. Because that's what I'm not. In fantasy games I play magicians, because that's what I'm not.

 

I get much more immersed in a game when I do my utmost to play characters not fitting my own profile in any way. But I don't bother correcting anyone if they make their own assumptions about my characters. Because that's what they are, characters, not me.

 

Also, I would be rather dismayed if someone made thrusting movements in my general direction. But that's only shining a light on their own personality. Idiots will be idiots. Regardless if it's in a game or IRL.
