My suggestion to you guys, regarding making money on GTA:O

Having played most of the day yesterday I realized something that might be of use to some of you... specially to the ones that care about money.

I started the game with a little over $11,000 (I believe everyone start with that amount) after a hole day of muggings, liquor store and convenience store hold ups, killing other players and so on I realized that you won't make any money like, in fact, you will lose more then you make.

You get 3 stars (possibly even 4 if you shoot the clerk) every time you rob a store. It can be hard to evade the cops sometimes and it will cost you every time you are killed, not to mention all the ammo you are basically wasting (ammo is not as abundant or cheap as in the single player). I was looking over my stats and for my surprise I had spent over $20,000 on medical expenses and some other crap... dropped or lost over $4,000 every time I died.

It's a crazy amount of money considering that the first missions give you around $2000 to $5000 at first.

My advice is for you guys to focus on missions and leave all the petty crime for when you are better armed and prepared. Also, leave the other players alone (unless you actually looking to start some sh*t with someone, which I know is always fun). You get almost no money and absolutely no EXP points when you killed them. I decided to start a new game (get a better car this time around, since the one you customize in the tutorial actually becomes you main car in the game) so I can change my focus to missions.

You shouldn't need a lot of ammo when robbing stores. Don't shoot the store clerks, and don't shoot at police. In the end, getting rid of police means to escape/hide, not to kill them.

 

Stealing cars and selling them to LS Customs seems more profitable than robbing stores, and it's almost risk-free. Maybe that will have to be changed/adjusted at a later point.

 

But maybe leveling up is more important than making lots of money. Remains to be seen...
