These games also had terrible launches: SimCity, Diablo III, World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Ultima Online.. just to name a few. All big launches have problems, and millions of people trying to connect all the time isn't helping. I haven't got past the first race yet, sure I am annoyed, even asked for a "day off from kids" from my wife in order to play with a friend but no such luck. Luckily I didn't take a day off from work for nothing!

 

I'm sure that Rockstar will find a fix to this, until then there's a lot of things to do in single player.

Final Fantasy XIV ARR.

 

3 days of beta, all servers were locked so you couldnt create a character to do the beta.

Followed by a week beta where everyone got disconnected

 

Followed by 4 day early access where no one could connect

 

Followed by 2 weeks paid sub where no one could connect..and when you did, you stayed online AFK for days just so you wouldnt have to try and connect again, which made the problem worse to the point where the devs were begging people to just sign off.

Worst online experience...depends on what experiences you've had. Did they mention there would be issues, sure. Fact, this is a really bad launch for a great game company. I think many would agree that putting this off for another month would have been fine. Launching it like this is just messy and frustrating for both them at Rockstar and for the players too.

 

This doesn't take away from GTA V single player at all. GTA Online needs a lot of work. I've never had a online experience like this. Only reason I really continue with it is because I love Rockstar's games and I want GTA Online to succeed. It's just horrible right now. Hopefully within a week or so it'll run a lot better.

So no, not even close!

Oh, shove off. No one on PSN was able to play correctly yesterday, at least from the knowledge we have on here. Only some XBL players got to.

 

They've been repeating the same things, not giving any update on a fix/etc. It's been two days now.

 

And they said there would be issues. Not that we wouldn't be able to play it in general.

 

So yeah, pretty damn close.

Diablo III was pretty damn bad, atleast I couldn't play it at all for the first 2 days. Thank the FSM for GTA V having single player mode.

Think people go ballistic if it takes more then 10 minutes to fix something quite often or complain about a bad launch or just being omg i want my money back, then it is a major failure in there eyes because it is not right now they have access sorry but that is not how the world works for the most part, this is not a failure at all, problems like this with choke points in there login and with servers not being able to handle this many players who want to go online or who are online at 1 time is not a failure how could they test for it with out this kind of player base they could hope they had done enough before GTA online was launched.

 

You need alot of people to be able to test for something like this, and these few days with the release of online they found out hmm we have a major bottleneck here, they are working on a fix be patient, and go play singleplayer or go play something else for a few days if you completed gta V with 100% and gold medal in everything.

 

Be patient is my best advice, i just try with a few hours in between to try and go ingame, but so far no go.

I've been awake for 34 hours now, 24 of which I spent waiting just to even be able to play. Been playing for a few hours now just fine, so...Could have been worse.

You think this is the worst multiplayer launch in history? I agree this sucks, and i'm an impatient guy, but not the worst, not even the worst for xbox, and not even the worst this year.

 

You, my friend, obviously didn't get Defiance at launch. This was horrendous, and couldn't be played since you had to be connected and online to play anything. First, you had to download about 10 gigs of a patch to start the game (which took 20+ hours for some people), and then for about a week, you either didn't get on, or played with unplayable lag and died from invisible bullets and enemies continuously until you shut the game off.

 

This is comparable, but no where near as bad.

I am so sick and tired of seeing all you white knighting f*ckin retarded fanboys defending R* with every last breath. Who gives a f*ck if they warned us there would be problems?! Does that absolve them of all this? Not a f*cking chance. And for the record, they said there would be issues, not that it would be unplayable!

 

That's like me calling the police and telling them I am going to do a small crime. And then murdering someone and then telling them "Well, I warned you a little bit...."

 

And WHY THE f*ck do they have micro-transactions even available at this point? With everyone losing their characters in this "cloud" and the server having issues, why not tone it down and STOP ACCEPTING PAYMENTS? This should be the FIRST thing they take down and last thing they put back up.

 

It turns out its all about money for them. As if a billion in 3 days wasn't enough.

 

Now go back to creating more characters in this very impressive piece of sh*t.
