rockstar apologists keep saying :"hurr durr rockstar had to do so much stuff hurr durr it is so much harder than just buying more servers hurr durr."

1. Well they didn't have enough servers anyway so even if that's not the only problem, the still didn't solve the problem that just required them to spend a little money.

2. What are the really difficult things that Rockstar would have had to do to ensure GTA online wasn't unplayable for the majority of the population for more than 1 day?

They made 800 million the first day, it cost them 200 million for development advertising and putting disc on shelves. They should be embarrassed that they didn't by enough servers!!!

Rockstar had to do the literally impossible to make all of you f*cking whiny sh*ts happy.

They, of course, couldn't do the impossible, so now all of you whiny sh*ts aren't happy.

They would have had to know how many copies would sell about 6 months ago for them to be able to handle it completely without a major financial hit. It would be retarded of them from a business standard to fast track a ton of new servers to accommodate everyone for day 1 in an industry where 30% of people would play online once, decide its not for them and never play again.

Also a lot of the issue wasn't server related. Some was bandwidth related and some was actually a couple of software glitches that apparently didn't show up in their betas.

Honestly there is absolutely nothing you can do with software to ensure the first online experience goes flawlessly.

Provide a server that can impossibly process all the data of millions of people trying to access it at the same time?

This game isn't even a MMO and has more people then most MMO launches.

Or, you know, just what we paid for.

Five years and two weeks, plus $1,000,000,000+ later...

No, it wouldn't be retarded. Spending some extra money to ensure there weren't a ton of people who couldn't play for over a day would be smart.

You serious? GTA Online was part of what you were buying. Just because it came out 2 weeks later, doesn't make it free lol.
