I've been able to make it to where it is trying to find players for the first race.

Anyone make it past this? Seems to be stuck here.

Yes I got stuck there too for 10mins so I quit and apparently there is a ''temp server'' which is different to our characters that are saved on the server cloud.. so I read here.

Im stuck at launching session .. Its right before the first race

 

most people have been stuck there for a day and half on the ps3...

Just sit through it and it will start the race against Lamar. That's how I got past it.

I'm stuck there too at the races. Been here for about 16 minutes. Read a post that said a guy advanced after a 30-40 minute wait and then right afterwards got booted into another mission. I'm on PS3 too.

I started in invite only session, it wait for 2 minutes and started against Lamar, and after 2 more mission I was in some pseudo-online freeroam (pseudo because I couldn't do anything else, it says gtaonline server are not available, so I guess it's some kind of temporary world mostly running on your console)

Hmmm. Seems like the way to go, eh? First time I got online today I got stuck at the races and quit game after 10 minutes. When I got back I had to make a new character. I lost my original. Yesterday I lost my 2nd character from some mysterious error I guess. I have a feeling I'm going to lose this new character too. I'll wait 5 more minutes before I try the solo or invite only mode.

 

edit: Alright, just thought I'd update info here. Been waiting over 30 minutes for "waiting for other players" at the race and I think that pretty much tells me it's not working. Ridiculous! I'm just going to say, I predict GTA6 won't have an online option. Just saying...
