A perfect example would be that gay blogger guy asking the beauty pageant contestant her opinion on gay marriage. She said she disagreed with it. He, and the rest of the liberal media, immediately raked her over the coals. The appearance of choice was there, but in reality there is only one opinion that various people were willing to accept. To not make that choice made her a bigot. And although I strongly support gay marriage, it really pissed me off that they baited her into a giant trap, the escape from which was the "PC" answer. For her to be honest about her feelings, whether they were based on her own moral compass, her religion, or whatever, made her a bigot. I can only imagine her frustration and confusion. (I often find myself in the same situation with my wife...Do I look fat in this? Come on, we ALL know there is only one "correct" answer to that question....But you get my point.

 

Essentially, by forcing the "correct" views on someone, you think you are "educating" them, but in reality you are only dictating your own subjective morality upon them. You then become no better than the bigots. To not like someone or disagree with their lifestyle choices is not bigotry. It's when you force your own world view upon them and put them down because of it. Which many so-called "open-minded" people do on a daily basis when you disagree with them.

I can't believe how people pick and choose what can and can't be made fun of. I don't care WHAT you are, you have to learn that this type of joke is not meant to demonize, portray types badly, or to enforce stereotypes. It's meant to be a DAMN JOKE! It's satirical comedy, one of the best forms imo. Mockery of all people is something that all people can enjoy, if you just lighten the f*ck up.

To sum it up, I guarantee you there isn't a secret evil lair of R* employees plotting to oppress transgender people by putting in an insignificant character in the game that most people don't even see.

Exactly. I honestly want to know what the problem is. Transfenders, whoops, I mean transgenders exist in the real world & are depicted in this game. They aren't being derogatory about them, or making fun of them.

We do not need an extra bathroom, we do not need to let every crazy that thinks theyre an X trapped in a Ys body flip their gender, and we do not need to acknowledge them as deserving of special treatment (other than therapy). First of all these look like men wearing women's clothing. One of them has a beard and chest hair. I imagine the same audio file plays when commenting about laser hair removal. Wouldn't a person male with gender dysphoria use a razor at that point to get rid of unwanted male pattern hair ?

 

Also GTA reflects and satirizes reality. Many transexuals or crossdressors do work in the sex industry because that is the only work they can get. Exploitation and marginalization should be emulated in GTA's universe.

 

Those with gender identity issues that manage to pass as female, god knows the ones in this picture do not, are not going to be running around commenting about how they used to be men to micheal, frank, and Trevor. They would shut their mouth and live as women and men and you just wouldn't notice them unless you looked for big hands and feet or adam's apple.

 

Also isnt' one of the strippers at Vanilla unicorn a shemale ? I think you can even take her into the back room. That is another dimension to this particular issue i didn't see discussed here. In fact that stripper is more representative of this intersex dimension than these crossdressors. These look like grown men, with pretty broad shoulders, that are just wearing woman's clothing. Shouldn't that itself indicate that they are not that committed to attempting to approximate the female morphology and thus are just gay men. In this sense i don't think mocking them as trannies is relevant as the stripper at Vanilla Unicorn is more representative of that community.

 

Also what sort of monologue can these pedestrians have? It appears to me the joke is that tehy are overly masculine yet wearing woman's clothing so already there is a visual mockery of the state of affairs. Why not respond to their hyper-masculinization, which is visually represented to the same magnitude as those statements. What statements would you have written for them that would be funny bits a Frank or Trevor might hear as theyy are passing on foot.?

If Rockstar ever were to dumb-down GTA and not be so offensive to people, it would lose its magic. Imagine GTA catering to every cry-baby that ever cried about being "hurt" by GTA - the game would suck.

 

I think these people are just attention whores. They're trying to stir up trouble so we look into them more and pay attention to them, because if you sit around NOT making a big controversy out of Rockstar...well, you're definitely not going to be in the spotlight. f*ck these people, stop giving them attention.

Not invariably no, but I understand your point. Some traits are objectively desirable.

 

I don't agree with forcing, as I think it's futile. What I like to do is make a compelling argument on why something is moral opposed to immoral.

I see the best in people and believe most people can be receptive, and just need to hear the rational argument.

 

A lot of repellant bigotry and intolerance in here. I know many awesome trans people who are subject to vitriol and derision every day because of their gender and no they did not grow up with abusive parents; what a deplorable insinuations.
