I seem to have lost my guy (who i managed to make day one) replicated him as good as i could in slot 2.

 

40minutes still waiting on the loading session. Well that was horrid the first time as well so i expected it.....

Not going to touch online until they address the issue and at least tell us if we are going to get them back or not :/

So, ive read these forums all day, and my character has not yet come back, it shows the money i have though.

Should i make another one to slot 2, or wait until my character (hopefully) comes back?

There is really no point, you will just end up losing it anyway. Most likely. If you want to, it probably won't hurt your other character, but it IS at your own risk. Rockstar customer support DID say that your characters will come back sooner or later and if not to contact them later. So I wouldn't touch slot 1.

This should mean that I didn't make a temporary character right, since it saved and let me back on in the same day right?

Well I see all my cash in my bank now on the character creation page, but my char isn't there. Does that mean it's deleted? Or just wait it out

Not sure if this pertains to what is the root cause, but my character deleted after being stuck at the mission download. I had to exit out the game to get out of the endless loading and my character was gone when I returned. The mission was a call from Simeon.

I lost mine this afternoon around 16:30 (uk) I'm not creating another though.

I don't think anyone's actually gets deleted unless they created them and played with him and made progress during a period when the cloud servers were down adn none of that got saved.

 

I made a character on day 1. Couldn't join anything though. Yesterday I got online 3/3 times after turning off my ps3 completely in between each time adn every time I joined my character was right where I left him with the right money clothes car and guns. Today he's gone and its asking me to make a new one but I think its not that he's deleted I think its that the cloud servers are down so its not letting me load my character that is saved online. Is that the general consensus on this? Because I've heard "deleted" characters later come back.

Well my 2nd incarnation of my first slot character has been deleted. I had a sh*tzu Vader that took me FOREVER to find again (my original character found it in a back street). I think I'll be waiting for my character to reappear. I'm pretty sure the cloud saved it this time. Well, I hope it did as that bike is the mean reason I don't want to start again. :/

 

I also bought a garage for $25,000... I'm not that fussed though... I was expecting this. :(

I was just seeing if my theory made sense, it wasn't just me looking for an excuse to ensure my character wasn't temporary. I just wish Rockstar would release a statement at least acknowledging this problem, so far I haven't seen anything on it. I don't want to make a new character to either, have it delete my old one, or just be deleted itself later on. I just want to know where I stand right now and what my best option is, other than wait.

Well i made my character, did a few missions. Went offline and then back online again and it was there. It was only today when i went on this afternoon and it was gone.

Iii can verify had a character that dissapeared day 1 reappeared yday. Worked all day today n yesterday up until now for me

I lost my level 12 character today. It happened after I quit the game after it crashed loading a mission. Game got hung up on the map screen (where it's loading the city map view and zooming in on the map). I waited a while for it to load but then just quit, when I came back I had no character in either slot.

 

The exact same thing happened to my friend, he got hung up at the exact same map loading screen then came back to no characters. I think two separate things are going on here, in some cases the cloud server is booting people off and it looks like characters are gone but they come back up when the cloud does. In the other case, a crash is somehow corrupting the characters and they are permanently deleted.

 

My advice to people playing is this: save all your money! Don't mod or buy cars or houses or garages until they fix this stuff. Count on losing your character, and at least when you do lose it you'll still have all your money on the new character.

Just lost a level 10 character.

 

Got stuck coming out of or going into a quick mission and locked up on that greyed out zoom screen. I quit the game via PS button. Come back. No characters. Hopefully it will repop or something.

 

Sucks.

Just lost my guy there aswell. Don't play it until its fixed is my advice. I'm not making a new guy until its fixed properly f*ck that. FIFA till then for me.

Yes this is my understanding of the situation.

Can't access my character either, but it says I have money in the bank so I am still hopeful of recovery..

This is utter bullsh*t, I can handle the freezes, the server crash's but this is such a time waster, then you cant even play because of fear of erasing your old character.

 

FFS rockstar fix this sh*t, It isn't even listed as a "problem" on there support site...................................................................................

That's wierd, I'm in the UK too and that's more or less the same time as when my character got deleted. Wonder if they were fiddling around with the servers over here at that time and it affected a few people?
