manofpeace
http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/music-arts/author-tom-clancy-dead-66-article-1.1473782 He died in the hospital in Baltimore. Still waiting for news on the cause. Most of the younger folks here probably know him for his name being stamped on all the Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six games, but most remember him for his classic action books like Hunt For Red October and many others. Moth
I'm a big fan of his. I own and read all of his fiction books. I was awaiting the next book in the series, but alas that isn't going to happen now. I rarely played the games that had his name plastered on, but then again, he didn't really have much say in the newer games in the series. Wonder what is going to happen to the ryanverse now? Another author or just have it die? Formerly known as The General

I cucked Alex Jones
Rouge Russian special forces, contracted by Al Qaeda and funded by North Korea and the Communist Party of the United States, were sent to assassinate Clancy using Plutonium. Called it. Edited October 2, 2013 by Nipperkins

Kiffster
I honestly don't know much about Mr Clancy. I've never read any of his books and I've only seen his name on some awesome games. But R.I.P... Edited October 2, 2013 by Werebot85
DEALUX
I basically knew\know nothing about him, but I always found it strange that he put his name in the title of those games. universetwisters
Man, that's gotta be a bummer. I never was a fan of Tom Clancy, but I found one of his many books while going through a pile of my dads old books while moving houses.

I wonder if his death will have ubisoft drop the Tom Clancy part. It's too bad, Tom Clancy made some bloody brilliant books. My personal favourite being Patriot Games. RARusk
One of his books, Red Storm Rising, was made into a game by MicroProse Software in 1988. Being a big fan of MicroProse in the late eighties I grabbed the game when it became available. I was not disappointed. Later, in conjunction with Commodore Magazine, MicroProse held what was known as the Red Storm Rising Ultimate Challenge in late 1988. I entered this contest and when it ended in May of 1989 I finished in eighth place. I got to keep my special battle disks and got another manual to the game. But this one was autographed by Tom himself and I still have it to this day. Edited October 3, 2013 by RARusk "One day I will think of this as just another job. After all, this is what I do." El Dildo
terrible news. I've read maybe 1/3 of his novels. mostly the ones that became feature films like The Hunt for Red October. obviously I'm also a fan of the games which bear his influence. Ghost Recon series is probably my favorite. this sucks. too soon. I wonder what the cause of death is?
GunWrath
I've read atleast 6 of his novels and I heard about this early yesterday morning and I could feel down immediately, his earlier novels were so engaging and keeps you on the edge. Well, I hope he went without suffering and sad to see such a great mind go away. I know most of his recent writings were collaborations but he still had it in him, much like Stephen King. As for the Tom Clancy title, I'm curious how Ubisoft's contract workouts now? unless Clancy and Ubi already made a long-lasting contract in the previous years. Hope they continue his legacy. Vercetti42
Ubisoft should leave a line for him in 'The Division' in his memory, 'Dedicated to Tom Clancy 1947-2013', R.I.P.
