Version #1

 

Availability: Common to find, easy to obtain.
Colors: Black with white stripes.
Location:
- Can be purchased.
- Flying around randomly.
- Landing occasionally at random helipads.
- Merryweather dock landing pad.

How to obtain:
- Purchased.
- Stolen from Merryweather landing pad.
- Stolen from npc pilots during or after they land at helipads.

NOTE:
- Npc controlled versions will land at Vespucci Helipads, even those owned by players if they're unoccupied.
- Npc pilots can be sniped HOWEVER they must be landing or close to landing, otherwise they crash.
- Npc versions will sometimes land, then takeoff, then immediatly land again in the same location.

- Image above shows an npc controlled version landing at the Vespucci Helipads.

Version #2

 

Availability: Uncommon to find, easy to obtain.
Colors: Red with white stripes.
Location:
- Flying around randomly.
- Sometimes landing at random helipads.

How to obtain:
- Stolen from npc pilots during or after they land at helipads.

NOTE:
- Not as common as the black version.
- Npc controlled versions will land at Vespucci Helipads, even those owned by players if they're unoccupied.
- Npc pilots can be sniped HOWEVER they must be landing or close to landing, otherwise they crash.
- Npc versions will sometimes land, then takeoff, then immediatly land again in the same location.

Version #3

 

Availability: Rare/Special to find, hard to obtain.
Colors: Lime green with white stripes.
Location:
- Always airborne, flying over water near the main boardwalk.

^ May fly south or north from that point.

How to obtain:
- Pursue with a buzzard, shoot at it (not with missiles) until a puff a smoke is visible once.
- Follow until it lands, may take from 5 - 15 minutes. It depends on the damage you deal to it.
- Can be scared to go certain directions by staying close, coming up on it's right &/or left sides.

^ This is useful, allowing you to chase it towards easy to navigate terrain for landing.
- Land before it does & as soon as it lands drag the pilot out.
- Immediatly switch characters (for the repair glitch) once the name "Frogger, Helicopters" appears.
- Switch right back, which will cause the Frogger helicopter to be repaired & operational.

^ At that point you'll likely be standing by the helicopter, but can re-enter it.

NOTE:
- Damaging it too much will cause it to shutdown quicker during it's forced landing, thus not enterable.
- Cannot be entered if the npc pilot has already exited; You must throw him/her out.
- You may gain a wanted star when you shoot at the helicopter, it'll clear shortly though.
- The npc pilot may call the police upon you throwing him/her out, make the character switch quick.
- Can be saved at purchased helipads.
- Can be saved & loaded in-flight. (after repair)
- Superb handling when you have 100% flying skills.

Busy Vespucci Helipads:

 

- Fly nearby, relatively high & facing the landing areas.

- Look back (ex: xbox 360 players would click the right joystick)

- Look forward again, this will cause 1-3 frogger helicopters to spawn in the area.

- Does not work everytime, however still quite often.

- Black versions mainly, possibly a red on some occasions.

- They usually do not land then, rather fly around like normal. (takeoff if spawned on helipads)

 

Example here where I was hovering nearby, looked back & then forward again.

A black version of the Frogger spawned, on one of the helipads. (top-center right, taking off)

With the method that you came up with back on the topic that was specifically about it.

I doubt that I would've gotten it without that plan, thank you!

It didn't save when I pushed it onto the helipad. However if you're quick enough, you get board the helicopter right when it lands, then use the character repair glitch before the game officially determines the helicopter as "too damaged". Once repaired, it can be saved like any other helictoper. The trick is simply getting in it & character switching before it shuts down for good. More damage = shorter timeframe.

 

Helipads don't repair/save helicopters that are already too damaged to fly.

^ Or at least for this helicopter.

She's a beauty though, in my opinion at least!

Very light sensitive; different levels of green by how the sun shines on it.

guys once you have the chopper just switch to a character then switch back really quick and your helicopter will be repaired and you will still be flying it.

Yes that's the repair trick mentioned already above, it's the only way to aquire the 3rd version.

However it's not always successful because of how sensitive the helicopter is once damaged.

It doesn't matter if a character's helipad has been purchased yet. If there is no current helicopter stationed there, the npc pilots will happily take the location at any time temporarily. It can get a little annoying, however if they leave the helicopter you can enter & exit it. That way if it's already on your purchased helipad, you get a free Frogger helicopter with no waiting for delivery!

Well, I'm glad you guys are happy with my method of acquirement and of course Foreverpast's trick to save a lot of hassle from the end of the original method, a job well done boys, at least now others and especially Foreverpast can enjoy his achievement which was once thought to be impossible without mods.

Technically, you can aquire the black & red versions in the same way that you must aquire the green variant. Not practical though to waste 3 Buzzards on that plan when 2 of the Froggers can be taken from helipads. Waiting for the red version can be time consuming either way.

As well, remember that forcing individuals out of any helicopter may result in wanted stars.

It's a bummer though, you can't save all 3 with just one character.

Then later on I used it for something, a mission or I don't really remember. Anyway, I lost it, and now I've been looking everywhere for a new one but can't find any. I see you haven't even listed the white one. So what the hell was that about?

Good question, the only white helcopter I've seen was a special cargobob on a mission.

I'll keep an eye out for the one you spoke of though.

Well your tactic to aquire it worked on the military cargobob as well!

Normally it can't be obtained other than via a certain mission temporarily, but now I got one of those too!

Your help is greatly appreciated.

 

& to note: For some reason after I completed the story, the red Frogger variant appeared less & less both in the air & at helipads.......weird. Would be so much easier if we could choose a color when buying one.

It was trying to land at the southmost helipad at vespucci. Could be seen from the street above.

I'm starting to think that it was some kind of glitch, I've been driving around the block, circling around and looking for days now and it still hasn't shown up again. But, suddenly, an orange one just showed up and made me even more confused..

Woah. I've never seen an orange or white frogger. I wonder how you can get them. I've tried getting the yellow one forever, but I never can predict where it will land and thus, can never land in time to hijack the pilot.

 

The yellow one respawns right?

Orange ones have been spawning at and around the helipads several times since the last update, never saw them before it. And I haven't seen any non-scripted white since the first update.

 

There seems to be some variants though, a dark blue/metallic one (scripted) was with me in the last mission (The Big Score).

 

I tried to hijack the yellow one a few times but was never able to enter it. It continues to respawn until about 19.30-20.00

There is an awesome blue one always sitting on the North Western dock when you do parachuting, after parachuting is complete, it's always there with a pilot in it you can either get in to parachute, or throw him out and take it, but I say why take it when it's always there. I'd say the lime green one is the most rarest. The red one, I took after a mission, it left me as Michael, but I switch to Trevor and had it, took it to the helipad for Franklin and met the two up and switched so it's at Franklin's Helipad, I have the Cargo Bob Marine Camouflage at Trevor's & Michaels. During that mission, that's the only time you'll ever get that, When you buy helicopters, boats and some air planes, they are black, though when you buy cars it you can pick a color. I think this was some kind of screw up. You can change the color of your cars at the mod shop, though you cannot pick the color of your boat or aircraft, and almost all show up all black, ughhh! If you completed that mission, replay won't allow you to keep anything. during the mission Cargo Bob military camouflage one, when you take it, and lose the stars do not land it on the yellow marker at Sandy Shores airfield like they want you two, but right there is Trevor's helipad, and you are Trevor during this. Park it on the helipad, walk away just a bit, drop a grenade and blow yourself up. You'll be at the medical Center near by, head back over, for some reason when I came back it blew up, but I switch to another character and then back to Trevor and it was there just fine, I got in it, reparked it, and quick saved. You can take it to other characters and switch out so they have it, though it will blow up , must switch out characters and then back, it will be fine, quick save as the character you wish to own it and make sure it on their helipad. You can always do this since taking Trevor's from his pad, being Trevor, it will spawn up another one, when you take that one to another characters helipad to give it to them.. Just like all helicopters stolen, it will be there, even if you take it out and leave it, it will respawn back. But if you switch any from your bought list, you will have lost it for good if you save after doing that. If it was your last one saved on any three helipads. So put it with a character you don't plan on buying any helicopters for.

A dark blue with white stripe will appear at the jump locations. You have to shoot the pilot but 50% of the time the heli will not be enterable.

However at certain angles & distances with the sunlight it may appear yellow sometimes.

 

Working on aquiring the Orange, Blue, & White later this week.

Will add them to the Rare/Unique Helicopters thread once I've done so.

I just jacked it, worked fine. Pretty washed out kind of blue.

I believe, that after all those patches since then it is no longer possible to get the coast-guard helicopter in-flight. It is, however surely possible to force it to an emergency landing on the beach by colliding with it in the air, best with a cargobob because of its size. Shooting at it with the machine-gun makes it only flee with high speed, unpursuable.

 

But entering it before the pilot leaves would need to be exactly where the heli lands before it does and not to be injured by it. That seems to be impossible, for it takes only some mili-seconds. And because of the wanted-level, you would not be able to "heal" the heli by switching characters.

On the other hand, as someone else has discovered, after one or the other patch it is now possible to get a heli wating for a parachute mission without killing the pilot by just throwing him out same way as done with taxi-drivers (pressing the button for starting the mission a longer time).

So, as I wrote before, I don´t believe anyone telling he has got the costguard-heli recently unless I see a video and not only a picture, that can easy been taken with a heli obtained by an editor. I myself made such pictures:
