Hold select, go to inventory, and scroll masks you have, one will be "no mask" and its off

This is a bug. I ran into this last night, but I found a work around. What I did was go into the inventory, select mask to none, and then equip glasses on and off. The mask then came off finally.

Oh sweet, didn't even see an inventory option when pressing select. I was under the impression that you had to go t a clothing store every time you want to equip or unequip a mask.

From the back/select button you can also change your mood, eat food and find a nearest ATM machine! And give someone the bird. Lol.

 

It's a bit clunky but it can be done.

I think the baldness problem happens with masks that cover the hair. Probably best to use masks that only cover the face until Rockstar fix the mask removal bug.

What's the correct way? I discovered the select feature not long ago even tho i been playing 2 days and thought I'd use my mask when robbing a liquor store coz I was getting three stars for robbing loads but it didn't do anything for me still got 3 stars on the next one I robbed.

It won't reduce wanted stars when performing a robbery - it will reduce them during the getaway.

 

If you rob a store with the mask on, once you've left and have broken line of sight with the store and the police, take the mask off and you will drop down by one star. It works the opposite way as well.

Apparently wearing a mask when robbing a store prevents the shopkeeper recognising you next time, which is good if you're not robbing the place 2nd time round.

 

Also just tested my theory about the hairless bug, it seems to be correct, masks that only cover your face (like the hockey mask) won't remove your hair when you use glasses to remove the mask.
