With all these problems it surely can't just be down to the popularity of it? Is it perhaps more to do with how many bugs/glitches there are in the system?

It is to do with the amount of traffic going in and out.

 

Like any online launch, due to the amount of people trying to get on it creats a backlog to the servers.

Which cause the servers to crash.

 

Its not a case of buying more servers because it wont alleviate any of the problems. Once the servers are stabilised against the pressure of millions of people trying to get in, it will all work fine.
