My experience so far (mostly positive) - Lvl 10

I thought I would post some details on my Online experience so far to give the people still struggling to get online something more positive to read than the hundreds of whinny threads....

 

- It did take me quite a while to eventually get it to get past the Lamar race (xbox)... but once I was past that I was able to enter/exit online mode easily with everything saving just fine.

 

- There are a multitude of ways to make money and so far I haven't found one particular way that is much better than the rest, so it helps to keep the diversity. Yes, you get a lot of money for selling cars, but you can only do it once per day. You CAN get a lot of money from robbing stores, but then you have to get away from the cops. I think I've made the most money from the races/deathmatches which can sometimes go fast and others take a while to complete. ( I have about $40K in the bank right now after buying some guns and clothing and such.

 

- I did notice that the more you level up the more that things unlock for you (clothing, guns, missions, etc). So all the new players that are complaining about lack of content should just keep moving forward.

 

- The missions and matches are 1,000x more fun when you are playing with someone else with a Mic. There were quite a few times I found myself needing to strategize with someone on which cars to get in and how to shoot down a swarm of bad guys.

 

- There are races where one person drives and the other one navigates .... these are REALLY fun when the navigator has a Mic.

 

 

- I've been trying to save up some money so I can buy a decent apartment. The cheapest ones I saw were around $28-35k but they look pretty crappy. Although I have yet to really understand why I would NEED an apartment yet, aside from being able to store multiple cars.

 

 

- I can see how easy it will be for R* to add more content and missions and the variety I have seen thus far blows GTAIV online out of the water. I remember playing the GTAIV online "mission" where you go to the oil rig and kill the guys and get away thinking how much more interesting that was than just a boring deathmatch....well I have already done like 5 missions that were more interesting that that.

 

 

- Luckily, I havent really had any problems with people spawn killing in free roam. The map is huge and it can actually be a time consuming effort to go out and find the other players on the map.

 

Overall, Online has been a pretty fun experience. Hopefully the rest of the players can get connected soon and start enjoying so that all these sh*tty threads will start to go away.

You will need a large enough home for the planning board to plan for heist when the mode is finally released.

 

I had a blast yesturday playing Onine. I made about 80k selling cars, robbing stores, survival missions, TDMs, races, collecting bounties on other players who were level 10 and higher, and robbing other players.

 

I'm saving my money for the penthouse. It cost 400k and it brings a 10 car garage. At the rate i'm going I should have the money by the weekend.

 

I heard that purchasing properties and garages is still buggy and players have lost their purchases. I'm going to wait until everything is confirmed to be ironed out before I go purchasing any properties.

You can get some outside the main city, they can go for like 30-60k.

 

Theres some cheap ones in SW LS as well.

Honestly, just save your money atm, i spent 60k on a garage, lost it after i switched to a friends server. No big deal but if you spend 200k plus on stuff, you'll be really annoyed.

I'm wondering, after you're done with Lemar's race you pick up the drugs, rob a store, buy innscurence for your car and then get asked to do a Deathmatch for the G-man. What happens next? I found it kind of confusing, since I got a lot blue markers on the map, and no guidance to what next.

After the tutorial is done with you get some new contacts on your phone, they just start to trickle in with various jobs and missions for you to do.

You can also open up the internet on your phone and there is a real estate page that shows all the properties on a map with details about each one. This is much quicker than to just drive around the map and view the signs.

That deathmatch is a part of the tutorial, right? Because I got bugged out there, so I didn't complete it. Have not got any missions or contracts since. So I assume something didn't trigger then?

question, where and how do you sell cars

 

You can take stolen cars into LS Customs and sell them for cash. According to others, only one per day, but you are rewarded well (for high end, good condition cars)

so i'm just driving around looking for a car to get money for and some asshole kills me and it costs me $2k. i quit the game immediatly so hopefully it doesn't cost me $2000 f*ck this sh*t. i saw a $2k loss in my bank account but i think i caught it before save point. that's gonna be a common theme in this game if it costs so much just to free roam, quit the server once you die before it saves your money loss.

Once you get to level 8 or so, $2k really isnt THAT much money. You can get that much with just one quick job....or sell 1 car for about $7k

the point is, i'm trying to make money and fags keep killing me. i guess my other option is to invest all of it in the stock market so there's no money for the game to take? if i didn't abort the game like i just did twice, i would have lost about $6000 to assholes.

 

yeah i can go rob a store or 2 for $1200 each, but after 2 you get 3 stars and end up dying anyway. i'm trying to bank money to buy things and it just doesn't seem like it's very easy to do,. i'm level 14 btw.
