  1. 1. Should R* Be Held Responsible for the poor online services?

Alot of people are defending R*, saying that alot of games have issues on launch days, and honestly that's hardly the case. In fact it's a rarity in most ocassions because things had been tallied for before hand. Shooters like BO2 and RDR can not be used as fluent examples as the servers were baught prior to most development of the multiplayer. In GTA V's case, the impact of the game was unexpected, yes. But they set their own deadlines, and rushed the online instead of thinking ahead of what could go right & or wrong. so for me to have to wait a week, enthuastic to play the everso glorious online that everyone else seems to have gameplay of is a little let down. I would have been fine with a few glitches, or bugs, but for an entire mass of players to not be able to go online because of a system error is a bit farfetched. It's not only a server problem, because few XBox players can play, but I think it's a corrupted Title Update that some players contract from it initially installing. Some of it also could be that the ports for the servers are not properly connecting to the players, booting them out because the ports for Jobs & the ports for Free Roam play are completely different and/or not open.

Even though they've stated;

One thing we are already aware of, and are trying to alleviate as fast as we can, is the unanticipated additional pressure on the servers due to a significantly higher number of players than we were anticipating at this point – we are working around the clock to buy and add more servers, but this increased scale is only going to make the first few days even more temperamental than such things usually are. This is part of the problem some of you have been experiencing with the iFruit App and some Social Club services – we apologize in advance for this and thank you for your patience in this area.

-

I think this should have been expected. Not only from us as consumers, but for them as developers. I think they should be held partially accountable, because it's not like they took the problem in and said " well f*ck it, it's broken " they jumped on it in that instant and are trying their best at a resolve. So for kids to come in this forum and make topics like " GTA Online PS3 Fix! " " How to fix online ", and to threaten to sue R* is really childish and complete f*ckery. Don't believe anything that doesn't have an image or video.

Take Two/Rockstar should be blamed fully. As a developer you don't release things that aren't competent enough to be working. You also as a huge company that just brought in over $1 billion and had two weeks of time to anticipate don't try the excuse of "Oh, we never expected this many players to be connecting at the same time".

You're telling me that with that amount of money you couldn't use an initial surplus of servers for the launch of GTA Online? This is not the proper way to conduct business, especially seeing as we're talking about over 10 million consumers here.

I dunno.. Personally they could just drop the tutorial and dump players into free roam and let them figure it out.

Once I got past the start it worked fine.

I'm not fully sure myself. On one hand I can see why people are mad at R* not being prepared for the launch of online. That being said however 2 weeks is not enough time to prepare for the onslaught of 1 million+ people all logging on at the same exact time.

So what do you know about conducting business, and marketing/shipping the biggest computer game of all time? Just trying to fathom what kind of experience you have, thats all. So shoot, gimme your resume......

Oh, I'm sorry, you need knowledge on something to have an opinion? No. Anyone can have an opinion on something regardless.

The knowledge of consumers or their experience of conducting business on such a large scale is really not relevant. The matter of the fact is bad decisions were obviously made, and seeing as R* see online of as the future of the GTA series to me, makes it worse.

its kinda of a redundant question really because who ELSE would be responsible? Few if anyone here would know what it entails to put something like this together. I expected server issues, they said to expect server issues and still many people were use there were server issues.

Talking about BOPS 2? That game has had server issues for the life of the game! imagine if they cheaped out and didnt bother with dedicated servers?

So am I, so is my 90 year old grampa, what's your point? I want to see his resume, seeing as though he knows so much about marketing, distribution and business strategy on a global scale.

Im sure Rockstar wouldn't mind seeing his resume, he might even get a job out of it, he's clearly an expert.....

Just get over the whining. Game works fine for me. If it's not working for you you're constant complaining won't make it magically work for you. Try and do something constructive in the real world for an hour or two and come back later.

I love this thread, All you fanboys are really getting f*cking annoying; more than the actual online is. Get off rockstars dick and realize their wrongs. They f*cked up. They knew how much they were going to sell pre-launch.... So why the f*ck would they not invest in more servers? No, they aren't ready for this type of game. And I see as I play down the way this MULTIPLAYER is getting very damn repetitive.

And character customization is a f*cking joke. That ALONE makes me want to vomit, guys save yourself time and just play another online game. This is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR from groundbreaking as they promised and it is a damn shame....

Yes, you win. You obviously must know much more than us all. I too agree with you, consumers should not complain nor have any opinion when Take Two f*cks us over by releasing something that doesn't work. Something they have had two weeks to make sure goes smoothly, yet we're supposed to believe that with $1 billion + of revenue from selling a single game they can't?

Compring it to cod is totally wrong since cod is nowhere nere the amount of players and details etc but comparing with rdr works, but a lot less detail and not close to the amount of players. But in general almost every MMO has had poblems on launch day. But yes of course rockstar is responsible for this, but it was expected. If GTA O works fine by the end of the day, that's a pretty damn good job from rockstar, tho I expect it to work proper in about 3-4 days.

That's the exact reason I can't be bothered with you, I see people like you on here all the time, you love to argue as evidenced by the fact you see it as some kind of competition, that you "won".. Won't get us anywhere. As I said, can't be bothered.

That and the fact that you don't think people can have an opinion unless they're qualified. It's ironic as you come across as a little ignorant yourself.

They will not be held responsible for anything, this is covered in the EULA. We all agreed to it when we handed over the money and bought a licenced game.

Of course Rockstar should be held responsible. It's nobody else's fault is it? It's up to Rockstar to provide a service that works. Even the fanboys can't deny that.

grand theft spaghetti

various los aztecas- shut the f*ck up. what do you do for a living...like you need a masters degree in bullsh*t to know this game is broken. how do you not expect the billion dollars worth of games you sold not to be played? you wait two weeks after you release the game, giving everyone enough time to beat single player, which means most of them are just waiting to go online as soon as its open.

cockstar rushed the game, overhyped the hell out of its groundbreaking online multiplayer and then dropped the ball like the game hadn't been pushed back into October and then given a broken update. when you beat the game. there is a list of testers and a special thank you...did they not even bother to test the online? this is too big a f*ck up, launch weekends might be alittle buggy but this shouldn't be acceptable. nobody should be calling anyone an entitled spoiled brat. cockstar should be ashamed and give out some kind of dlc freebie to the customers they screwed over. that's just good business.

not asking for perfection on launch weekend, only asking that when the company f*cks up this bad, and boy did they f*ck up royal on this one, they make it up to the customers. they are already doing a better job than treyarch. deny any problems and blame the customer.

You're correct, anyone can express any opinion on anything...but some are more valued than others, aren't they? I could ask my doctor why im getting, for example, headaches, and I could also ask a taxi driver. They would both have an opinion, but one would be more valuable to me. (It would be the doctors btw, hope you picked up on that). But if, for example, I wanted to know the fastest route to the airport, maybe I might value the taxi drivers opinion more. I hope I've made my point.

Same with this, I trust the judgements made by the developers and marketing people, who made this the biggest game EVER, more than the opinions of random internet morons like you guys.

Well I do like to believe myself that consumer opinions are actually valuable to businesses.

As a student of business however, you have given me the knowledge that if I ever start my own business I should not value customer/consumer opinions, rather, I should hire people with the relevant experience to tell me how good my product/service is.
