The Risk of dying no longer applies

When I was playing at 7pm GMT the feature of killing a player and taking ALL of their money was still in the game, for example.

 

Player 1 has $1576.

Player 2 kills him.

Player 2 receives $1576

 

Now however you ONLY receive $100 for killing a player regardless of how much money he or she has on their person, this has clearly been changed by Rockstar..

 

Where is the risk now?

I received nearly $2,000 from this one guy. I ambushed him robbing a store (after he killed me), and I ended up getting all his money.

 

I think the $100 thing has something to do with Passive Mode, but not entirely sure.

I just got out of a party with some guy, and we played like 8 different races/deathmatches, and we spawned next to each other in free roam. I had $13k+ from JUST those games, so I wanted to take whatever he had 'cuz I'm greedy. I shotgun'd him, and I only got $100...I KNOW he had more than $5,000, so I'm thinking something's messed up with the money drops.

I've killed friends who I know aren't using passive mode and only gotten $100. I think if you have over 5K, more of it becomes at-risk.

Maybe you don't get a lot of money when you spawn kill someone after an activity?

Interesting, It was fine at one point and I know DEFINITELY can't shoot people in Passive mode.

There is probably a safety net so you still have enough cash to function when below 1k in cash.

 

That and the fact people know you are all being c*nts and going after them so they are more likely to deposit I know that I'm never going to have more than a grand or two on me.

Most of the clever people will deposit their cash in a bank frequently, this might be the reason why you're only getting 100$ no?

Only thing I know and have seen in streams is, that you get a note if you carry more than 5k, so that you should put it in a bank. So probably if you carry 5k or less on you, then other players will only get 100$ so you won't lose everything. But if you carry more it's lost.

 

By the way, it seems you can just deposit money to your bank account via mobile phone internet. Which is strange, so no need to look for ATM, just deposit within seconds via mobile.

Yea I was also seeing varying results. I only ever picked up 100 after killing a player however when a friend and I held up a store he killed me with a melee shot by accident and I dropped 1000 which I had just got from the store clerk. So yea really unsure of how it works and it would be nice of Rockstar would confirm the % that is dropped of the cash you are carrying or preferably I agree, would be cool if u lost all cash you carrying on you - much better! you can also deposit your cash via internet banking on your phone so no excuse to be caught with all that cash on you

Well usually they don't spawn people near each other when they back out of a lobby. It was the first time I had been near someone after that, so I HAD to try it.

So do you only get 100. I've only ever got 100 dollars. Maybe you can steal money from them when they have just robbed somewhere? I hope it hasnt been changed.

Pretty sure there is an anti spawn feature that when killed within a certain amount of time of spawning you drop only $100. There also might be a harassment feature that does similar if you kill/are killed by the same person within a time limit.

 

Also when a player dies they drop half, not all of their money.

OP I'm pretty sure it's always been you drop 100 unless you just robbed a store in which case you drop all of the money you robbed. 1500ish seems about right from a store robbery also.

This happened to me. Had been playing quite a while and just sold a car to the auto people. Came out of the garage and my money was about $1300. Noticed a guy lurking at the top of the ramp I was going up and ended in a shootout.

 

He had an uzi me a pistol and I died. When I respawned ( pretty much where I died) had only lost $100.

 

So I ran up to his car shot all the tyres and drove off.

Maybe it depends on the lobby's settings you're in?

 

Before mY character randomly got deleted, a friend and I were running around in free roam then some nub decided to try and take us out. We easily destroyed the mongoloid, but he only dropped $100 and proceeded to spawn a block away from us and continually failed to kill us, dropping $100 dollars until after about 5 deaths he began to drop nothing. I died once during that session and only lost $100 of my $1700 cash.
