So this is the support page for GTAO, set up by Rockstar Games.

Which is a good idea towards concerned customers.

Here is why im worried, this page was set up shortly after launch, a few hours maybe,

Now it says it was last updated 5 hours ago, this is not entirely true, because ive been watching this page since it was set up, and the only real changes to it is that some issues has been added.

It allso says that when issues are fixed, they will be updated with status on that current problem.

Now 24 hours has gone by, not a single problem has been removed or updated (ive checked).

The only change to this page is the addition of a few issues.

Hopefully this is just because of laziness regarding updating the page, if not.... this can take a looong time to get running.

The update that was 5 hours ago is at the bottom of the page. This paragraph:

"Updated 1:00 AM ET 10/2/13: We are continuing to look into these issues and are working around the clock on resolving them as quickly as possible. This includes close monitoring of our Support systems, forums, social media, and in-game data to measure traffic along with Community sentiment to ensure ongoing improvements to stability. Please stay tuned for more updates."

I would assume that the people who are responsible for both the updating and twitter feed won't have stayed to work overnight so in a few hours when they pop in for work they'll update it.
That's just speculation and hope so it may very well not actually be the case. But the twitter feed was making a few updates per hour and has been away for awhile since their early hours so this theory could be true.

Well this isnt really an "update", is it?

We all know they are working on it, why wouldnt they, they just released a product thats not working.

An update would be, what issues has been fixedor how long they believe it will take for the game to be possible to play at ALL

Op, I agree I have been following up on it as well. They should leave updates to when they actually have something to update. Not just a check back to say that they still know there are issues.

Think about it. If they release a time frame, Doesn't matter if it's today, tomorrow or next week. People are going to flip out. Why? If it's next week, it's obvious. If it's today or tomorrow, if that time comes and it's still broken, Rockstar put themselves in a even deeper hole. The only update that would be worthwhile IMO is if they say why they think these issues are happening.

At least they have shown that they know exactly what problems we're having. Now that they've identified the problem, you're going to have to wait. Simple as that. If it means we gets a better product, I wouldn't mind waiting another week.

If they said, "the game probably not work for atleast 24 more hours", atleast people would be pissed and move on. Instead of trying.... trying...and trying, just getting more and more pissed because a) The game is not working. b) Noone is telling them anything.

They can't throw money at their computers and fix the problems that way. These problems are system wide on the PS3 and very common on the XBOX. They may have to change the entire beginning portion of GTA Online. That's going to take longer than a couple days.

Exactly, and if they know that is the case, then they whould tell us.. "The game wont be working for atleast a couple of days, BECAUSE there is a big coding error during the games starting point"

maybe the story made me paranoid of conspiracy, but why wouldn't they just tell us? for one thing, as long as it comes down to connecting to gtao, its something they don't want you to know.

There are several good reasons for them to say that:

1. It informs their customers, some of us just want info.

2. It allows planning, for those hardcore gamers taking time off work or whatever else they are doing.

3. It spares people the annoyance of just sitting there trying and trying.

4. It shows that they are willing to admit it when something is wrong, and talk to their customers about it. Unlike EA for example who basicly wont admit or inform their customers about anything, one of the main reasons people hate EA.

5. If the game goes live before planned, you will have less people trying to hammer the server down, so that it hopefully wont go down again because of server overload, they can then inform people on twitter/mail/facebook/rockstar page, WHEN the server is back up again afterwards, and then the rest of the world can join in.

Oh noes. R* haven't updated a page and now GTA:O is looking shot and will never, ever happen.

Tell me people,is Diablo 3 still not up and running? What about Sim City? Or MW3?

Oh, they are?

FFS, calm down and relax.

You've waited two weeks. Wait some more. Not the end of the world if you have to wait for something.

Errors like this can't just be fixed in a matter of seconds or minutes. They take hours to find, hours to diagnose and often hours to fix. Also some of these updates are likely to require a client side patch, which means putting said patch together and going through the microsoft update process so they won;t be fixed one at a time but all together. They posted the update because they want those who can't play to know they are still working hard on the issues and the original post wasn't just an attempt to quelled their frustration.
