Xbox360 Players: How did you get past the race?

Obviously there are a lot of 360 players playing GTAO at the moment. I have been trying alll the last day and all night t make the race work but I keep getting stuck in "waiting for players" or "launching session" parts. How did you guys get past that?

I made a new character and on my 2nd attempt of reloading the game with that new character it worked.

Could you describe how long "a while" is? I'm on XBox, I deleted the patch, reinstalled it, created a new character and got into the blue circle. That was 40 minutes ago since when it says "Starting session".

Mine worked first time but I told my friend to remove the title update and redo it all over again it worked.

It was about 15 mins. It was freezing up a lot before I did the race but I just restarted the xbox and it worked in the end.

 

Once you get past all the 1st missions it loads to online mode every time.

 

Try deleting your character and start again as that worked for me.

I started a solo game and waited for over 20 minutes eventually it started. Smooth sailing from there.

But you didn't go into Solo Mode? Guess I'll be deleting the title update and recreating characters all day long...

 

It just makes me wonder, since everyone is mad at the XBox players and I'm still not able to play.

I can't believe it, I just reinstalled the title update, and without deleting my char it worked, I won the race

1) If you are frozen on the screen with the blurry city than restart it. That will never work.

2) If you are stuck in a screen with between about 1 and 7 other people than stay put. Each time someone walks off the screen they are being put into a game. This will take you between 15 minutes and an hour. It took me 36 minutes on the game day clock which was probably about 45 in real time give or take. I've had friends connect this way today in under 10 minutes and some closer to an hour.

3) Once you are in you MUST DO EVERY TUTORIAL. This will take 15 minutes.

4) After this passed I played free roam for 6 hours straight. The game really is great once it's working. Also, once you are done the tutorial than you never have to wait again.

 

The problem does not seem to be overloaded servers but rather a small gate into the first mission.

I can't believe it, I just reinstalled the title update, and without deleting my char it worked, I won the race

 

 

Nice now do the rest of the missions and it should work.

 

That's what you have to do keeps f*cking about with stuff and it will work in the end.

I deleted the update from my HDD and then saved it to a flash drive. Worked immediately after, but I can't promise it wasn't a coincidence...

I did on my 2nd attempt but a friend of mine was there for 1hr going to dashboard then trying again..

He found that loading single player first then going online didnt crash for him.

I finally managed to get into the race after trying for a few hours. Finished the race, got to the stats screen after the race, then the video crashed although i can still hear audio, sigh.

I had to sit in the launching session for about half an hour yesterday. No troubles after that except a car disappearing and freezing a few times.

Does number 2 also apply to missions after the race? I should be making the Job "Cypress Flats: Last Team Standing". I choosed to join a game, a while after it asked me if I'd like to watch the other player, he was on a job where I choosed Yes. Now there's a loading bar at the left side of the screen (2-3 mins yet).

Just patience. I found if it went to the view of the city wait about a minute if not loaded then dashboard and try again. It took a few friends 3 or 4 attempts. Me it took about an hour ( actually gave up, played bf4 beta for 20 mins and next time I loaded it worked fine) and a few others had no luck last night.

 

Its weird as says waiting for players but for the race it's only you and lamar. So may be its a filter thing to slow people logging in?

 

As others have said make sure you do all the tutorial up to the first last man standing and you should be fine.

I have sat on the so called "it will work this time" screen for a collective total of maybe 5-6 hours. Not all at once ofcourse. But when you are sitting there, watching people come, and go over and over again. You kinda start to feel this isnt working for you.

 

At the moment, it has been 50mins. I have watched people spawn long after i have, and walk off mins later. it has been 30mins since i saw a single person spawn, standing there all on my own. Only just now have 3 more people spawned, 1 walked off about 3 mins after.

This. It's so damn frustrating to watch people enter and leave within minutes, while you're stuck there.

 

Tried a few more things, fresh download/cache clear, trying again. I just wanna play, got 4 days off shift from my boring military job, and I really need to shoot people in the face.

Well I just kept reconnecting over and over. Whenever the screen froze on that skyline shot and it took over a minute I exited to dashboard andtried ver. The 5th attempt in a row worked like a charm. The reace directly started. Finally!

Thank you for the tip. Last night I was told waiting to join the race would take 15 minutes. After those 15 minutes I gave up... guess I have to wait for longer, then.

 

What if it says "Host is on a job, would you like to spectate?" What should I do then?
