Now heres my question, during the day and around launch I felt that OK, their servers are being hammered because its launch day, and launch afternoon. But now its officially the next day, and it's late at night. I'm guessing probably 40% or less of the people that were playing or trying to play are doing so right now, meaning their servers probably have much much much less load than they did earlier today. But guess what...THE GAMES STILL f*ckED? Can't start the first race still, after not trying for a good 12 hours. So yeah, I think these problems are much more than too many people trying to play. Like "we're aware of some issues" and then FIFTEEN HOURS later, "we're working around the clock" - still no information. Reminds me of the whole "Just routine maintenance, we'll be back up in a day" - Sony 2011 For sure, this is much more than just servers being overloaded. It says something about "Launching session" when I try to start the first race vs Lamar. Obviously the server can't be down because my character loaded. If they can't handle times of day when most people in the US are asleep, their servers either suck ass or these bugs are not connection related. VolkXue Posted October 2, 2013 Share Posted October 2, 2013 I was one of the first log-ins I think.. Got trough the race and even a "world record" at the time then I crashed later.. I only made it to level 6 or so. Started a 2nd character just to test some things out and haven't been able to get through the race with him. No sharks, no other divers, cant complete 100% as some missions just don't show up. And now this f*cking sh*t, and R* goes silent at the same time.. Dammit, R* have turned into every other developer... Feel like ive been conned.. And I honestly do not care if people do not like my rant! Yeah Its a shame you have to do the race first, because a mate of mine, same area, xbox live, managed to get past the race part 15 mins before me, and once done, yes the heists/races etc were dodgey, by he could mess around in free roam, which is all I wanted for now really. that launching game and waiting for other players was quite annoying. I left it after a while, but when it sits and waits, and doesn't say, servers full, or boots you out, you don't really know where you stand with it. As people said if it was certain other companies we'd be waiting till Christmas to be told.. popeno Posted October 2, 2013 Share Posted October 2, 2013 To whoever compared this with a cab drivers car breaking down, yes I would blame the driver for that because before he goes out for his rounds he should be looking at it and making sure things are good to go. As well as the regular maintainers on the vehicles that should be doing good inspections throughout the week. So yea I would blame him. As for the server stuff. Rockstar being new to the whole online thing shouldbe no excuse for this. Honestly II'm not mad that stuff is going wrong because it was pretty predictable. What I'm mad about isbthat they haven't said anything as to what the problems are. Give us some info. And if it is really that they have to buy more servers well then they dropped the ball and are still laughing to the bank. I dunno ima try again next week and hopefully I can play. It's incredible, I know. Let me explain something in a way that is more clear for you.. First off it is delusional to think that GTA 5 didn't sell more in the US than any other country. I can assure you it made up for atleast 40-50% of the $800 million in profit they made on day one. Their marketing campaign was also more focused on the US, even putting up large murals in major US locations like Times Square NYC (That's not cheap.) 8000 stores in the US were open at midnight, most had dozens, or even hundreds of customers. And that's just the stores that opened at midnight. So my point is that GTA 5 made more in the US than any other country, I am sure. Next would be the UK, but I would expect they had atleast half the sales of the US. Now, right now (4AM) there is a major dip in US traffic/people playing Xbox. Makes sense, they are sleeping. So, despite the fact that the country that has sold the most copies doesn't have nearly as many people trying to play right now compared to earlier, the servers are still showing connectivity issues. So, how will this possibly be better tomorrow, when millions of people in the US are awake and trying to play? My main point is this: Rockstar not only can't handle the amount of server load required for GTAO, but they aren't even close to being able to support the amount of people that bought the game.
