GTA Online Tips and Tricks

Recommended Posts

In point 5: earning RP solo, i'm surprised no-one has mentioned golf. at between 1800-2500 RP for 9 holes, (even if you finish way over par) it's by far the easiest way of earning a lot of RP. Only play solo tho - having an extra player just slows it down too much, especially if they're not very good, and you don't gain anything extra by playing with others

took me 10 minutes for 9 holes, and 2380RP :)

edit: had a bad round, finished 4 over, only got 1700

Adding this in right now, thank you! Also put your name into the Thanks section.

I posted a tips and tricks page and then someone showed me one already existed, so here's my list if it repeats anything already stated on here my apologies just pick away at it for what's useful

Just thought I'd come up with a tips and tricks guide for those that are new to online or maybe not so new. If you guys have any ideas feel free to let me know and I'll put them up here if they're confirmed/helpful.

Definitely going to integrate information from that, I appreciate it! Also posted your name in the thanks section as well!

I appreciate all of the support from everybody and also a congrats because this thread is now stickied!

Yeah no problem, actually the moderator saw my thread which led to yours so I'm glad I could get their attention over here. Now we're pinned :D

The Elegy. Once you have a garage to store your cars go to the Legendary Motorsports website through your phone and buy the free Elegy RH8. If it isn't free or available then why haven't you signed up for Rockstars Social Club? Go do it now and get your free sports car

Didn't know this --- Excellent thread OP, thanks for all your efforts

You're very welcome. Just trying to help out.

If you're in a helicopter and having trouble evading the police, on the eastern side of the map in I believe Blaine county there is a large cave along the coast (head north along the coast to see it, you won't be able to see it if you're heading south). It's difficult to stay in there, but I've never been caught by the police in it.

Hey Umbaru I have confirmation that the stealth stat increases by just walking around while sneaking. I went from clumsy to ninja by keeping my analog stick held forward and sneaking on a long straight road in Blaine County.

Here's a tip I know I will be hated by anyone who reads this...

It's pretty dark and mean, but I was just testing this out because I like to experiment on things that peaks my interest in games...

I wondered what will happen if I stayed in another player's car while in a mission.

For Example: In the mission, Titan of a Job, I was trying to get in the Titan with 3 other players, but I couldn't because of a glitch that also affected my phone by not letting me call my Mechanic. I just stayed behind to kill any Merryweather, and to play with the Crane that picks up containers. While failing to pick up containers for some reason, I noticed my partner's green car, so I got in and stayed while my partners finish the mission. Afterwards, I exited after the mission is done and when we are in the mission screen. I ended up in a new session with his car, so I try to sell it in the Los Santos since I forgot to sell another car before. I ended up selling it for $37,000 because I assume it is in my session and it didn't have a tracker, so it might as well be mine. I don't think it will work on very expensive cars because this one was a Fusilade.

Hate me or not, but I just want to ask a quick question. Who would do this just to see if I'm lying...or not?

And just to make this clear.

It did have a tracker to because who would spend a lot of money on a car and not save it.

How would it be in my session if the tracker works for him...hmm...I don't know...I guess it is mine if the tracker is there and makes me enter the Los Santos Custom with another player's car!

I can confirm from my experience, that landing planes on proper runways (in the direction of the landing lights) does give a good amount of flying experience. I took a titan and just did takeoffs and landings in freeplay and it increased my flying skill much faster than the hours I spent flying a jet around in freeplay.

-Singing while in the shower in your apartment gives you RP. Leave music playing into your mic overnight to exploit this.

** Like most activities online, there is a cap to this. You can only do it for a few minutes (a few bars full of 20xp at a time) per day.

You should mention that you can change to/from free aim and aim assist in single player, and when you go online you are put into either free aim or aim assist lobbies depending on your selection. However, if you join a friend and they are in a different type of lobby, you will be given a warning that your aim setting will change when you join them. You have to manually change it back in single player mode afterwards, if you want your original aiming mode back.

Also, all vehicle races unlock all vehicle mods, not just motorbikes. I have personally tested this with super and sports cars, unlocking for every other class. I have a fully upgraded, turbocharged and chromed Sandking XL and I can tell you, I've never once raced it let alone won a race. It was all unlocked from super/sports.

Great thread, btw. :)

Hmm... If you're having trouble evading the police in a helicopter, I think you're going to have a lot more trouble navigating into a cave with one.

hey umbaru great thread man, it's been so helpful for the past few days

Looking over the mission rewards, I really wish the payout was more balanced. For example, the mission Los Santos Connection takes a f*cking long time and should be worth atleast $20k simply because of the amount of work you put into it.

Hey I'm new here. I've been reading this forum for a while now but decided to join today.

Alot of good content here.

I'll just add a few things, I read the list in the OP a few days ago but I can't remember what was in it so just take what you want/feel is good.

>>>Laser tag? Steal a jet<<<

If you want a Jet, the best one to go for is in the hanger labelled A1. Fly the heli into it and to the right of the jet and you'll only attain the four star wanted level once you touch the ground - not as soon as you enter the air space. Be quick about it though if you spend too long flying above you'll get that four star wanted level.

>>>BUYING weapons? Aint NOBODY got time for that<<<

If you're level 15 or above you unlock survival mode, you can get quite alot of weapons you usually you cant get till level 21(sniper), 23(assault rifle). You can also get things like the minigun, RPG, carbine/advanced rifle and heavy sniper etc. If you quit your session or change session. This will reset. However, it's not bad if you wanna do a mission and feel an RPG would make things easier. You dont even need to complete level 10 to take the weapons.

>>>25k for bulletproof tires? I rather walk<<<

In the mission cops capacity Lester provides you with a dominator with bulletproff tires. Complete the mission by driving it into the yellow target area at the end and when you return to free mode you'll be in the car. Park it in your garage, get it resrayed and insured and you have a car with bullet proof tires. Personally for my senital (BMW M3) it costs 25k for bullet proof tires. Or you could sell the dominator for 12k.

>>>Felon GT for $22,000 + $9,000 Everytime after<<<

In the mission that lester provides (I can't remember what it's called) you have to chase down a lawyer, driving around in a modded felon GT. If you decide to steal the car after killing him and stealing the files you can sell it for 22k at LSC. This has been mentioned but before I sell it, I usually park it in my garage so it gets a tracker fitted, then drive around to until I find another felon GT. I then steal the new felon and park that in my garage. Leave my garage, find the 22k one then sell it. Everytime you want a Felon GT to spawn to sell you just have to drive around the one you've put in your garage. Pretty long winded, but worth 9k for not doing alot of work.

>>>High Priority Case - Where's the choppaa? Where do I land?<<<

Possibly the most annoying mission I've played along with death from above since the heli's never spawn when you need them. But once you manage to find a heli as vespucci beach (the frogger that hovers up and down for some reason), fly to the taller building on the left of the construction site (the one with the heli pad) and clear the roof a bit using a sniper rifle. You can kill about 5 - 6 enimies and make the transistion from air to land much easier for yourself/anyone with you. Land with the cockpit behind cover s you dont get shot and end up spawning at the bottom lol.

I'll add more when I find some :)

You can sell a 'Gallivanter Baller' to LS Customs for 9000$. Exactly 24h (about 48 min) later you can do it again.

I bought an apartment with a 6 car garage. 1 for my insured car, 5 to store gallis in it. So I don't waste any time searching the streets for a car to steal when the time is right. With the last galli in my garage I drive around a little bit and look for further gallis to steal. When you drive a galli it's much more likely that another one will appear in the street (often 2 or 3). After I drove the stolen galli back into the garage I go back to my first galli (it's marked) and look out for further cars to steal and store. This way my garage is always full of Gallivanter Baller and I start every online sessions with a 9000$-ride to LS Customs.

can you improve skills like stamina from doing cycling solo?

Yes. Or, even easier, just put a rubber band over your left stick and your X (A) button (your player will run in circles) and go have lunch. Your stamina will be maxed out in about an hour or 2.

Here's a tip I didn't see on there?

As soon as you get 5k, or hell, even 3k? Go right to the bank and depoist that sh*t. I'd reccomend only keeping about 1k in cash on you.

No matter how much cash you're carrying, you will only drop $100 upon death. Even if you get a mugger sent to you via Lamar from another player, he will only take a max of $2,000. There's no need to be overly concerned about the cash you're carrying. Also, there's no need to ever visit a bank or ATM, because you can make deposits and withdrawals right from your phone.

I'm not sure if anyone else has found this but me & a friend have found a way to sell cars at $64,000 every 48 minutes. I don't know if this works on Xbox as I play PS3 but if you get a Gallivanter Baller sport and mod it as much as you can after you have insured it, the selling value of the car goes up in mod shops. Now find a friend and start a co-op mission against the computer not other players. Take the your personal Baller for the mission and do everything as normal until you have to do the last objective in the mission. Now one person and only one person who doesn't own the Baller has to take it and drive as far away from the objective as they can so that they don't get the finishing animation of the mission but the everyone else just goes and finishes the mission as normal. Hopefully now once the mission has finished the person who drove away in the Baller should have a duplicate of the Baller and the original owner gets theirs back. Go to a mod shop and sell the duplicated Baller without damaging it to get the full price. Depending on how modded the Baller is the more cash you get for it, like I said me and my friend are getting $64,000 for ours. You just keep repeating this and get tonnes of cash. It is a glitch in GTA online so will probably be fixed by rockstar at some point but at the moment it works for any car that can be stored in a garage. You need at least two people to be able to do this as well. Please let me know if it works for you if you do try this glitch.

Great and thorough post! Alot of people are apparently oblivious to the fact that doing wheelies on motorcycles speeds you up, and that holding left analog stick back when riding the jetski and driving boats also allows you to drive faster. I have been kicked for "cheating" so many times, especially on jet ski races. You could add that in the OP :)

Awkward Lonely Lester

If it has not been mentioned yet, then I'd like to add that while you can heal instantly when eating a snack/drink or whatever while taking cover (which someone else has stated already), you also heal more from the snacks/drink compared to standing up and going through the animation. Why this is though is a mystery to me.
