I can get in, but when there comes the first deadmatch or something, with other players, it always tells me ive been 'timed out'.

I got to the race start bit now it just says launching session for ages. The weird thing is I am getting someone's voice chat through despite my game frozen on "launching session"

 

They are in a different language though so I don't understand what they are saying. It sounds like they are playing the game. Weird!

Eventually it started the race just me vs Lamar and the random voice chat has gone

Unfortunately after the race has finished the game has frozen at a blurry sky shot. I can still hear cars passing by etc... but no interaction with the game at all

I've managed to get a few hours in, getting my character up to Rank 6, unlocking sports in the process (Tennis, Golf, Darts, Arm Wrestling, Strip Club (kind of a sport)).

 

That first race and the mission right after that seem to be the most glitchy parts. Once you get past those and on the map, things work much smoother. Hell, with all the problems with that first race, I managed to set a world record in it, that I'm sure has been broken many times since. Still, it was worth a platinum medal!

 

Anyway, don't give up, the servers have finally arrived for PS3.

Still can't get passed the blurred picture of Los Santos. Also ruined my autosave at 50%.. Now I have to start from my last save, which was 11%

At a guess, it was about 5-10 minutes. It took a while.

 

Edit - Signed in again and loaded up GTA Online. It's continuing from where I left off!

The game apparently doesn't save any of my Online characters, even though it says so. Haven't gotten to the first race yet, but I have seen the un-skippable intro three times. And for some reason I've started with around 10 000 $ in cash on a couple of occasions.

 

Since Rockstar (and Sony) aren't fully acknowledging the problems yet, I guess it will be weeks until the game is somewhat playable. At best.
