Decided to go for a little experiment - open up Snapmatic, set up a decent pic, then take a screenshot just before taking the photo, to see if there's any difference (other than the HUD and the honkin' big 1920x1080 screenshot size!):






Ignoring the HUD and the 'stink-eye' from Kelly in the bottom pic (heh!), I reckon that there's some subtle 'flattening' of the depth of field in the Snapmatic shot - bit like how a real photo tends to do that (which likewise brings the same pros and cons into the equation). That, and the colour contrast looks marginally greater in the Snapmatic - I imagine to likewise simulate a real photo effect.


Time for another test - Kelly, strip to yer skivvies, in the name of SCIENCE!!

Definitely lighter/more natural colour-wise - and from doing a back-and-forth with similarly-sized versions, the 'flattening' effect is really quite noticeable. Particularly with how the 3D-to-2D compression is handled - in the screenshot, there's a slight 'curving' of the image, like it's been done as some kind of combined panorama. I.e., there's a slight 'fish-eye' lens thing going on - but on the other hand, the Snapmatic avoids this by literally compressing the depth. No curving/lens effect, but looking at the face/neck, it's really jarring to have absolutely no sensation of any third dimension at all, which is why there's a slightly 'unreal' quality to it.

To quote Mr. Spock, "fascinating". And probably goes a long way to explain those moments where a shot looks perfectly lined up in-game, and yet seems ...'off', somehow, when you see the saved image on Social Club - unnaturally compressed shots (with marginally exaggerated colour saturation) so as to get the entire picture in one consistent dimension, and to amp up the image details in terms of contrast, to offset the fact that it's a much smaller image than a full screenie. /nerd

As for today, for the first time in ages washed all the colour out of her hair, makes her look a lot darker, and almost normal?

 

Quick bike ride for fitness, until it started raining so there was only one thing left to do

after the next meet Ace is hosting I wanted to host a MOUNTAIN bike ride up mount chilliad.....

 

we could all get mountain bikes (with the headlight) and ride to the bottom of the mountain then all as a group ride up

we could meet up here lol

we could also take pit stops every now and again to stop and take pictures etc

 

once we reach the top we could some more snaps

we could all dress up in like hiking gear, shorts, boots, helmets, parachute (back packs) etc

 

and when we reach the top we could either parachute down or ride down on the bikes (which could be more fun)

 

and we could have one member leave a helicopter at the top of the mountain and another member leave one at the bottom so get

Thanks LL! I've been putting off doing it for too long. I've done face too. I'll post later, it took a little longer because I had to do Face's corvette too. I'll take the pics later and show all 4 as I've done some more pics since posting those.
