This Is Expected...?

I've lost count how many times I have read this sentence today. And you're wrong...

What was "expected" was a few bugs, glitches and odd graphic glitches.

What we actually have is a completely 100% broken game.

I spent 3 hours playing earlier after being told "Connection with the cloud has been reestablished. Restart the game to enable saving" After my game crashed and I rebooted, guess what, no save game!

It wouldn't be so bad if Rockstar came out and said "We messed up. This is what we're doing and it'll be done by ____" but no, no update in 3 hours.

Its a shambles!

People are expecting the servers to work flawlessly on DAY 1? How about you try to create perfect servers that can hold up to 1 million players at the same time.

Give it a week or so.

Really now? And no one's saying we know how to make perfect servers. Just that we expect something that's almost unplayable from the get go after two weeks of milling around.

Rockstar were told by analysts BEFORE release to expect sales of over $1 billion. They had sales figures THREE weeks ago and yet they still haven't put enough infrastructure in place. Rockstar has noone to blame but themselves.

I was expecting bugs, glitches, DC'es, maybe some server restarts, or even worse.... i could live with server rollbacks.

But not beeing able to even start up the game for nearly 7 hours, THAT I did not expect.

But as OP has said, It would be allot easier to take it all in if they gave out some info every now and then, maybe with some details.... like...... Is it a issue regarding overload? coding? Will it require client side patching? How long do you estimate it will take (a few hours, a day?). Thats probably the worst part

It's like every other launch of a new game.

No. Most major title games don't have these issues. sh*t even COD doesn't have issues like this on day 1 because THEY EXPECT THE LOAD. Apparently R* didn't get the f*cking memo about how many people actually bought their game.

This is the nature of online games. There are issues in the beginning. If you're too immature to understand and deal with it, then shelf the game for a few days and come back when you've gotten over it.

Edit: Also, LOL @ the person comparing this to COD.

"One thing we are already aware of, and are trying to alleviate as fast as we can, is the unanticipated additional pressure on the servers due to a significantly higher number of players than we were anticipating at this point," said Rockstar in its latest blog post. "We are working around the clock to buy and add more servers."

Despite this, the company is still expecting the early days to be a bit rough. "This increased scale is only going to make the first few days even more temperamental than such things usually are," it stated. "This is part of the problem some of you have been experiencing with the iFruit App and some Social Club services - we apologise in advance for this and thank you for your patience in this area."

This was written on 9/25. Maybe you don't know how servers work. But if they are telling you they need more server support, then that means you will have trouble accessing the online modes, period.

They've also made note to tell us about glitches and beware of them at first, so I'm not expecting picture perfect gameplay for a few weeks either after servers are good. I actually appreciate the fair warnings, you don't typically get that with gaming companies, esp the likes of THQ, EA or Capcom.

I doubt the Rockstar employers are as cool as you are, this bad of a launch is actually a big deal, and I wouldnt be suprised if some heads will roll, come monday.

I don't think people are expecting things to work flawlessly. Here's the rub; They don't work. Whilst some lucky Xbox owners are playing, most are still being shut out and pretty much every single PS3 user on here hasn't been past the tutorial race.

Give it a week or so is a sh*tty answer. If we're giving it a week or so, R* should have pushed the release back a week instead of getting everyone's hopes up and then pissing it all up a tree because they weren't prepared. This is a company that has sold 18 million copies of this game. If they didn't anticipate this kind of demand, or bother to plan ahead, then they're the most moronic developers I ever laid eyes on.

And I thought the 250,000 long queue to play Star Trek Online's latest expansion was a pisstake. At least you could play that once it launched.

Are you an idiot? Now I know why your attitude is so sh*tty. It's because your a cod player. Diablo 3 had this on launch day too and with that game they didn't even offer offline play. At least with this you can play the base game.
