How we customers can fix GTA Online!

They should close online as a whole work on it so then the dicks that dont listen and keep bombarding the servers dont grt a chance

How are the servers supposed to clear? It's not like the millions of players are going to go away.

 

It's been 9 hours and I can't even join, let alone do anything.

Assailant i'm with you there, how are the servers meant to clear? I don't really understand servers all that well but as you said it's not like 1,000,000 player are just gonna leave

What people don't get, is that this is the largest online undertaking Rockstar ever have done, and by that, it is almost impossible to forsee how many servers and what bugs may occur, before it is launched. They can't simulate it, and the beta was only a handful of people. Having millions of users up- and downloading constantly WILL cause so much data transfer that the servers shut down in essence. R* are doing what they can, so expect 1-2 working day before they have ironed out most of the issues (and bought up more servers), and probably 1-3 weeks before everyting is running smooth.

 

So in short. They told us, we knew it, STOP RANTING SO DAMN MUCH!

One thing we are already aware of, and are trying to alleviate as fast as we can, is the unanticipated additional pressure on the servers due to a significantly higher number of players than we were anticipating at this point – we are working around the clock to buy and add more servers, but this increased scale is only going to make the first few days even more temperamental than such things usually are. Side note it's pathetic because it's not mega mmo servers with thousands of people. It's thousands of servers that only hold 16 players each. Its very different.

1. For people who haven't gotten on today.

2. For people blowing up the servers

 

Yes it is stopping them, because the servers are flooded and are crashing and being spammed. It has no time to settle down and chill out.

 

Also, that means they are going to need even more servers. Let's say WoW had 100 servers of 1000 people in each, GTAO will need 1000 servers of 16 people in each. Get what I mean? Hope that made sense

I'm loving these threads. I'm screen-capping the whiny kids and putting them on Twitter for RockStar and others to see. Everyone is getting a kick out of these poor kids freaking out. I wonder if they realize how big of a joke they are. Every video game has this problem at launch. Halo, Battlefield, Call of Duty, Red Dead... the companies and lists go on and on. It never changes, so why are people still acting this way? I would love to show these forum threads to a college psychology professor at the U of A and see what she thinks

Over 16 million copies of GTA 5 sold. Even if only 14 million of them tried to get online at once... that's still 875,000 servers they would need at 16 players each. But no one ever thinks how many employees are trained to handle the servers or how many countries those servers are in or what time it is in those countries. Now imagine Japanese, German, Russian, British and all these other countries can play together in one lobby, provided the servers in Japan are working in time with the other countries. Thanks to time zones, that doesn't always happen. Why don't some of these players that are so anxious to play try to fix... oh wait... they can't. They're 15 years old peeing in milk jugs wearing tighty whiteys hiding in their rooms playing hooky from school. I am eating this up. I am actually excited to see the next post or even entire topic on "why I'm entitled to play god with a now billionaire company".
