Consequences of a bad launch which may instill cynicism among investors? I thought this would be appreciated as we've learnt about the stock market through GTA V. :)

Quite normal for stocks.. its all part of the game, whenever rockstar announces a new game they will go up again.(depending on the title).

Sounds like everyone should have sold before GTA V launch and now is the perfect time to buy.

Not saying the game is bad, just joking.

Do you really think that the launch of an online mode would affect the shares? Looks at the worlds economy? Look at what happened in the USA overnight night? The worlds biggest economy is in trouble.. Perhaps this is why Rockstars (And most) share price is fluctuating today? Don't you think that world issues like this, are more likely to affect the price of shares than an launch of an online mode?

Looking at the share price, there is no evidence that they are dropping anyway.. Just normal day to day fluctuation?

Got love how playing games like GTA, makes people experts in everything... From racing driving to Flying to Construction and now the stock market.. Genius!!

Share prices are falling across US companies because of the current fiscal issues in the overall economy. They'll bounce back fairly quickly I think.

You're taking this thread too seriously, buddy, but I'll reply in GESTURE BECAUSE YOLO!

PS: Check analysis of EA's stock from Sim City's failure; it's more about image of competence & negative media - interrelated to confidence in the market of stock options. I'd say a temporary failure of a feature in corporation's main title is more influential than a few GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS temporarily closing, completely irrelevant to corporations along with their services.

So true. It's people like this who give republicans a reason to call for the banning of such games.

I'm sure Rockstar and Take-Two are totally panicking that their stock dropped a few points.

The billion dollars they made off sales of GTAV in less than a week doesn't mean anything, right?

has risen back to 18.22+0.05‎ (0.28%‎)

People are simply buying whilst low to then dump them as they'll all do soon together (huge drop coming), leading to a panic where everyone will sell. Just a theory as this is so fun/amusing...

C'mon, don't ruin the fun. :p Now, if the CEO's head was to explode, just maybe it'd drop into the double digits...

Actually, if you look at the big picture, the R* stocks were below $11 a share before 2013 started, and it just peaked around 18 recently. GTA 5 crushed expectations therefore it's stock rose sharply. The time to sell was last week, whereas the time to buy was late last year, when 99.99% of us didn't even give a sh*t about stocks in the slightest.

Lol it's funny the way some people are applying GTA logic to real world situations.

In case you hadn't noticed, the $ took a hit on the Government shutdown. That will have a knock on effect for any internationally trading company listed on any US exchange.

Add to that that after days of overwhelmingly positive press, the buzz about GTA is turning a little sour with reference to it's online issues, then a drop in price isn't out of the question or even the ordinary.

But maybe you're right - R* should just ask all us gamers to chip in a dollar each to push the price back up. That's how it works right? :D
