Why not a staggered launch?

If rockstar was anticipating problems with the amount of people trying to get on at the same time why didnt they release the online a few hours apart for every region. I would much rather have to wait 10 more hours than a couple of days or week which will most likely be the case. I was expecting some problems but this is a complete sham.

Because it doesn't necessarily solve the "there are more players than our servers can handle" issue.

 

R* should have made preparations by allocating additional server space. They feared they didn't have enough last week, so why they still don't have enough is ridiculous.

Something tells me this is not only a server issue. If it was they would have just gotten a bunch of backup servers for the first couple of days then get rid of the ones they dont need. The fact that rockstar themselves was warning us of issues leads me to believe that there is something else going on here. Oh well if they get it sorted out by tonight then I will cut them some slack but If this goes on for days or weeks then rockstar will become the new EA in my eyes

Because servers are not cheap especially when you need to buy and set them up in a matter of days. So to buy and install more for a 3-5 day period where your overloaded but your population will never be higher is a poor investment. Also this is not uncommon for servers getting their first true load, they are probably dealing with multiple disk and hardware failures that cause further issue.
