So many whiney little xbox kids on this forum. You've posted an irrelevant whining thread of the likes we've seen hundreds today, and posted it in the GTAV section.

Go post it in the online section if you think "Rockstar pulling a sim city" is in any way a true or relevant statement.

Either way stop wasting our time with these sh*tty topics, children.

If this topic belongs in the "GTA Online" sub-section, I'm sure a moderator will move it.

And, no-one put a gun to your head and made you read this topic. Seriously, chill out.

If you don't have glitches (or workarounds) to report, then please go post somewhere else. If you want to troll someone, go bother the people posting fake jetpack screenshots.

Have a nice day.

:)

"this is not a complaint, this is a statement of fact" why? because it came from your fingers? what the hell!?

I have videos, that have been uploaded, and more on the way, that recorded every single step I took to finally get online. So yes, it is fact, and I have proof. Chill out.

(still in upload/processing stage)

3 more still queued to upload

 It's funny how a lot of people join GTAForums recently just to "try" and troll. The racial slurs, the insults, the direct threats and what not is seriously appalling. I'd dread to think how on earth their parents raised them. :/

Rockstar sold 33mil copies, so they should have been ready for Online, and obviously they weren't.

a rogh estimate is that at least 10 million(thats 10.000.000 for the mathematically handicapped and those who have trouble understanding what that number means) players are spamming their connections towards R*(and it gose to 1 place mat no matter its xbox or ps3 all data gose to a central database in R*) a high end mmo game server can handle about 3000-5000 players at the same time, IF i want to be generous, and those servers have their SEPERATE login server just for the login process, so form here on even a retard can do the math. they would need 2000!!!! high end servers with FAST and reliable internet in order to facilitate this kind of CONSTANTS strain of data.

but a mmo is players thats on none stop, gta online is only 16 players not more

Most MMO's don't even have collision, let alone physics, and WoW, the biggest MMO out there, supports raids of 25 people with that.

Factor in GTAs physics, bullet trajectories, the fact that it has to calculate bullet trajectories and collisions often from moving vehicles travelling 200mph, and it requires a lot more data than your average MMO.

MMO:

Where is the player standing?

What are they targeting?

What ability are they using?

GTA:

Where is the player?

What vehicle are they in?

What condition is the vehicle in?

What is the vehicle doing?

Is the vehicle colliding with anything?

Is the player shooting?

What are they shooting at?

Did they hit?

What is their target npcs reaction to getting hit?

And so on and so forth.

Get a ps3, fix confirmed

I ditched my PS3 when Sony lost my credit card to some amateur hackers.

Anyone have any constructive feedback?

My main issue right now is actually hosting/joining jobs...

:/

Firstly, as to what you said about the 'PSN hacking scandal', while credit card information MAY have been taken, no unauthorized purchases have ever been linked to it (as far as I'm aware).

Anyway, I'm not going to drive this thread off-topic. Really, I think the best thing to do is to wait it out until the issues are resolved. I know it's not much to go on, but hey... there isn't much we can do... :/

Rockstar aren't 'pulling a sim-city' as this is only the first day of release. If these problems remain and are still as severe after about 2 weeks or more (even that might not be long enough), then you can feel free to say whatever you like. Also, as others have said, this isn't online only. GTA V can still be played.

Now that, Mr. Sloth, I can agree with. Thanks for posting something constructive! :)

And there's no way Rockstar is pulling a Sim City, since we actually can play the game offline. Same would go for the people calling it a "Diablo 3" clone for this matter.

Also, yeah, they sold 33 million copies. Still, it isn't possible to stress and test servers to a release date overhead unless you actually release the game. There's no way you can test production-performance in a test enviroment. This was expected.

Hmmmm... good point, we still have SP. But, online, from the little I have seen so far, is truly a different game entirely...

But, think of it this way... Each "cloud" server can probably host 100 people, broken into batches of 16. So, R* could of put 100 people on one server, and tested the hell out of it. Then, they start expanding, and just clone the tested server. Now, going from 100 to 33mil is a huge jump, but there are also stress-test servers to test servers. I.E. they create fake data to load up the large cloud server farms. So, considering the game released at 6am my time, and most of the people in the servers in my area are still asleep, its kinda BS they weren't ready for a 6am crowd.

IDFK, I just hope they are working on it instead of sleeping.

Indeed, GTA:O seems like a completely different game and definitely is a completely differnet experience. But at least we have something to play with untill everything's stabilized.

And trust me, I work with Business Inteligence and everything that goes with it (system development, database management, server tuning), and even though you can fake data, it only tests the server to a certain extent. It's still a closed enviroment, where you, the developer, is probably the only one connected to the machine. It may get close to the real thing, but it isn't. And that difference between the real thing and the testing enviroment can crash the server.

I really really doubt they would be sleeping right now, but I can only hope for the best. I still have 5 hours on my work, and I really wanna play the heck out of it when I get home :)

Thread title is wrong. It should just be "List of known issues observed on GTA:Online Launch day".

Saying that R* is pulling a "Sim City" is incorrect, not even close to being a fact, I'm talking like light years away from being a fact.

1. All mmo games have launch day issues. PC mmo launch day issues can sometimes be less if the developer has stress test demo weekends. Console games can't do that and only have the option of testing their load capabilities after the game has been released.

2. Problems are going to happen, whining about them is childish and ignorant.

These are facts, people. Don't believe me? Become a game developer, attempt to launch your own mmo for a console. Then you will say, oh yeah, that guy was right.

Still don't believe me? Go make a youtube video and cry like the "Leave Britney Alone" kid, only make it "They should have tested their servers". WAAAAAAAA

To compare a game that some have said sold 33mil copies vs Sim City as of July 2013 the game has sold over two million copies, is a bit extreme, for them to have servers capable of handling such a load and testing is very hard to predict, they have 33milion people testing this game everyday vs there 100s if that people testing the game, 33million people crawling over every inch of the playing field. Give them some time the game is only 2 weeks old.

If you expect to hop on a sever of any major released game on release day expect delay, Everyone is excited to jump on and try it, as that settles down and people start to play the game at there usual hours the online servers will improve and im sure rockstar will work hard to fix the issues we have. Rockstar is nothing LIKE EA Games.

Do people here deliberately ignore R*'s statements telling us to expect problems at GTAO launch, or are they just THAT retarded?

Update: At 12:16pm CST, I was able to get online, and my character was fully recovered. Thanks R*. Keep fighting that fight! Don't give up on us!

Update 2: Now, the PS3 is completely offline. Xbox is now offline too. Maybe they are making repairs?
