UK, PS3 Players - What's your status?

Every time i restart my console my player deletes.

In the UK, was able to complete the first race as soon as Online was live,

After that it loaded to where i seemed to be standing by a garage.

 

But i could not do anything, the screen goes all blurry, almost like Pause is on, And it just freezes there. Pause and everything else does not work, only way out is to exit the game

Urr... I don't think game developers do night shifts. They might be getting some overtime dollar though

 

 

They have over 300 employees and I'm 100% certain they work shifts all around the clock to fix this situation.

 

I've worked within the IT-sector for years and it's not uncommon to have people working night or on stand by if anything happens, even when it comes to very small companies. So yes, they have a team of programmers all day & night until the problem is resolved.

The problem are the servers from R* though. It uses their servers for all the fancy cloud things (something that Microsoft thinks is so super awesome for next-gen, well, there we go we see how well it works).

 

Now, lets just take the fact that there are probably more connections coming from Europe at this moment, where PS3 users are the majority, it could simply be that there are way less people connecting from the Xbox 360 than the PS3 and therefore the issues aren't as big. I'd assume that they use separate servers for Xbox and PS3.

I've just finished creating my character (I'm really pleased with how he looks) after an hour and a half (I'm a bit of a perfectionist, it's just my nature) and it's just hanging on trying to connect, then saying that the server is unavailable.

 

I've been expecting this, so I can't say I'm surprised. I feel sorry for anyone who took a day off work or whatever for this though... surely it must feel like a bit of a waste?

 

I'm expecting for things to remain the same, but gradually improve over the next few days. If anything, hopefully all should be working by the end of the next two weeks.

 

Edit - I've just tried connecting again and I'm getting a black screen that hasn't gone away for about 5 minutes now. My PS3 is working just fine. I'm going to reboot the game.

Yeah, I totally anticipated this. People are throwing a tantrum, it's pretty funny. I wanna play, but I understand the issues of trying to maintain servers when millions are all trying to do the same thing at the same time. Rockstar even warned about this, so people really need to calm down. I'd never cancel a day off work for online haha. People who did that need to use their head more.

This is why after experimenting for a bit, I found what I wanted my character to look like and noted down all of the information on how I created him (and his stats). So I've got it all backed up if I need to create him again!

I got to create a character after a long time of nothing. Now I just get a black screen. It doesn't seem to time out or anything. three times now, I can only quite the game via the PS button. no other button responds......

I guess it was down to chance. One of my mates downloaded it at 11:30/11:31, or so he says and he's been in ever since. He had one disconnection message but was able to get back in.

 

There's no sweat though. Us Brits can handle minor issues like this. It's how we are.

i live in hull and on level 5 on solo i cannot enter any races oh anything first race was fine but after that cannot get on anything other then solo??

This is correct, night shift developers are common practice.

I can't even get past the character customisation lol. Really frustrating at first until I noticed everyone was having problems. Can't wait until I manage to get online.

So..I have spent my day since stupidAM trying to get online. sad. haha! idc. i wana play. So..i get my first taste.."character creation" and i get it perfect(this is around 12pm) and after that..kicked..failed to connect bla..this all day long until..what..30 mins ago. i had to , like many others re make my chappy. and i decided to try "solo" i made it! yes...how boring..but i did manage to rob a petrol station. get 4 star wantd..and i even got away! then i decided to "Dare" ..join a pal. bad move..kicked. was fun though..the funny thing was ,i landed into the map from a good hundred feet in the sky..no damage and had like 300 grand in my wallet. before i even did anything..compensation rockstar? lol.... lookin forwards to the online ..i give up now for a while..twenty mins or so probably..am in UK near london btw.
