Played GTAO for a little over an hour.

 

As of October 1st 10:00 AM EST:

 

DO NOT attempt to exit the game when starting the first race mission if it reads "Launching session." Your real/temporary character may be deleted, mine was. Just wait for it to finish loading.

 

DO NOT attempt to try the shooting range or any activity that requires multiple people to start. You will likely be timed out and removed from the game, happened to me twice.

 

DO NOT select the temporary online character if you have already made the one you wanted; if you were booted with the character you created to keep and you also just created a temporary character to keep playing, your avatar will be deleted.

 

DO NOT select the bottom of the character wheel to access multiplayer if you cannot already access it from the pause menu. Your game will get a black screen and you must restart your console.

 

DO NOT create a temporary character if you have not completed the game. On a spare hard drive it wiped my single-player saved game.

 

The game itself is extremely fun, I was able to do a few stickup's and kill a few fanboys. Have fun when it actually gets working!

I am the source. It does not appear to be an isolated case. I've set up two consoles, one with the game and play disc installed and the other with only the game disc. Same problems on both.

I hope this isn't true for everyone, and just a rare bug. I did a temp character the first time I tried to get on because the servers were down. I was 7 missions away from the end. If my game save got deleted, I'll be pissed

I already got 2 "bad sport" disconnects, for suposedly "getting kicked from the session" POST activities. I really hope Rockstar resets this kind of thing after they fix everything, because it's pretty unfair to label me as a bad sport even though I'm not quitting. As a matter of fact, I actually stayed until the end of an activity where I was playing by myself against 3 people!

Yes... I'm still waiting more than 5 and a half ingame hours :S How long is this going to take?

Hey thanks for the heads up! I'm stuck at the launching session now and I've gotten the black screen a few times when I first tried to play. I also created my character on the same drive I keep my main game hopefully nothing happens.

Yeah I know right, it's been out for like 6 whole hours now and they haven't fixed every single bug/released a patch....unacceptable.

yea i played for a good hour and eventually when everyone in the server left I got bored and tried to join a new server... Wrong f*cking move..
