Sentence structure...f*ck that I'm a computer engineering major not an english major. Back on topic, why do all the people streaming on twitch (the big channels) get no lag or anything at all :/

Well, I saw Whiteboy7thst stop trying to play Online after a while like a hour ago, so not all major Twitchers/YouTubers have it working either.

What you guys have to remember is that Rockstar now has a demand on their servers which they will probably never experience again until a future huge release. To invest to cope with this amount of people would mean buying lots of servers which would later become abundant.

Having said that, I think this is no excuse. Rockstar already made over a billion and any abundant servers could surely be used in the future.

You've got to be kidding me. Developers like Maxis & Blizzard even can't even can't get it right on fully online experiences such as SimCity & Diablo 3 respectively at launch. You expect a company that's taking its first real steps in the onlin biz, who said there would be issues and frustration, to get it right at first go? Get real.

All these people bitching about online even after Rockstar themselves said it's going to be a laggy/bug-filled launch..

People have a right to bitch about it they payed for the game. You can call gta online free but if it wasn't included with 5 then the game would suck. I say the story for gta 4 was better than 5 since 5 was nothing more than a sort of tutorial for online...WHICH I CAN'T EVEN PLAY!!

It's been 4 hours you idiot. You've got months to play it.

You won't be happy with it once it's working anyway. You'll be like that guy bitching about how the water coming from the firetruck looks sh*t.

Do me a favor and sell the game on ebay so I don't have to come across you online.

Dickriding rockstar doesn't get you brownie points friend unless you just do it for pleasure? I expect a game that is said to come out to at least be semi playable and not f*ck up my single player as well. This is just plain stupid and people like you with your heads so far up rockstar's ass are doing about as much or less than people like me who express our anger toward a product that is as of now inferior. Basically...you can f*ck yourself.

You sound pretty upset. Is this game your life?

Did you even pay for your game? I'm willing to bet your parents bought it. If that's the case you're not entitled to anything. LOL

Urgh, why can't people simply express a negative opinion without the fanboys coming out in force? People have every right to be annoyed, every network-required element of the game has been unusable or highly unresponsive since launch. The servers couldn't even cope with the iFruit app. I've played a fair few online games on launch, and never experienced anything close to this. FIFA14 launched this week, and that has been seamless online. Why? Because like them or hate them, EA invest in their network.

I love GTAV, but if FIFA14 was anything close to this, ESPECIALLY after giving themselves a 2 week grace before release their online content, that would be unacceptable. You can sit and fanboy yourself as far up the proverbial arsehole all you wish, but responding to complaints with, basically, "u mad bro, get a life" is childish and moronic. You could argue that someone that feels the need to defend a company because they like their games, blinded by whether they are actually doing a good job or not, needs to severely "get a life". :)

Lololol.

I'm positive you've never played an EA game before.

Voted worst company in America multiple times.

FIFA13 servers were constantly down, and you clearly weren't alive when Sim City was launched.

EA make this launch look flawless.

EA's sh*tty reputation as it may be, i've still encountered no issues whatsoever playing their latest release. It's been by far the most seamless online experience i've had with EA, so perhaps they've sorted their life out.

SimCity is actually a perfect example. Drastically underestimated demand, ended up killing their game since by the time they sorted it out, people were too pissed off to even bother anymore. At least they've learnt from that. This should have been used as a cautionary example. It has not.

You said EA invest in their network. I've just given you two very recent examples where there are multiple to give where they clearly f*cked up. Using EA as ab example of "online done right" was your first ignorant mistake.

Defending them was your second.

To all the complainers: What speed is your internet?

I'm guessing that your issues are not entirely R*s fault, but either your cheap-ass, or your unfortunate inability to obtain a decent internet speed for online gaming (10mb+) due to your location.

If you're running a 2mb line, then you have no right to complain about anything.

No SimCity failed because it was a bad game. It did not improve upon its predecessor in any way, quite the contrary actually. Diablo 3 also had major issues at launch, where most people couldn't play the first couple of days either, yet it was and still is to a degree popular.

It is precisely 10 mb, thus it's not it's fault I think.

Speed is not an issue, play other games on line and they work just fine. If a pre-requisite was to have a certain speed for GTAOL then it should have been said by R* otherwise it is mis selling

You are obviously high on crack, unless you really are this stupid. You think any company in the world are able to invest in servers that can manage milions of people, from all over the world burden who at the same time trying to get in? Then you are really f*cking stupid.

And stop making the same threads that 40 other whiny kids already made.

Don't be a dick because people are annoyed they're not able to use a feature they paid money for. This is something that was predictable and possible. I work in networking, it's not by a long shot an unachievable feat. The reason we're having this problem is because R* underestimated how many people would get the game on launch week (which is baffling) and have had to spent the last few days desperately buying and adding new servers to their cloud. We're essentially paying for R* going in at the lowest end of the spectrum of server demand, then rushing to try and recover when they inevitably can't handle the traffic. If R* had faith that this would be a record-setting release and took a slight risk in adding enough server power to deal with that kind of demand, then we wouldn't have this issue, at least not to the point that people like myself have only seen a black screen for 15 minutes at a time as their experience of GTAO.

The decision was to either go towards the lower end of the scale for servers, low financial risk, high consumer risk....or put enough to deal with the highest estimated demand, high financial risk, low consumer risk.

They went with the latter. Understandable, but that doesn't mean that they're not open to backlash from consumers. They are well within their rights to be pissed off.

Well said. Many companies handle more bandwidth than some game can produce.

Apple, Microsoft, Verizon, Comcast ect...

Shortfall on Rockstar this time. + launch problems= today.

I have no doubts it will be fixed and be an enjoyable product.

I have not tried to play yet, and I am not expecting to be able to until next week.

It's called being realistic.

Waited five years, what's another week or so.

This is hilarious. Poor R* even WARNED you that the launch would be rocky, and people are still crying like spoiled brats! I hope R* is drinking the tears of all these spoiled kids that skipped school so they could play GTA:O.

By the way, to the guy working in networking... you probably work networking for some small, tiny network in hicktown, USA. I guarantee you're not networking on anywhere close to the same level as a massive online world that has THOUSANDS of servers running right now to keep up with the demand. IF you know networking so well, you would know that this isn't abnormal. Every single launch of a online service that I have ever participated in, gaming wise, has been like this. I've been around the block many times with MMOs, this is nothing compared to some of the disasters I've experienced. I those cases, players WERE actually PAYING for the online service, and only the online service, and I never saw half the complaining concerning those games as I have seen on here.

Keep on rocking R*, don't let the haters get you down!

I don't think people thought it was to be this rocky. Maybe some crashes, bugs, etc. but I guess people expected to be able to at least play. Just my guess.

R* made it very clear what to expect, including issues with servers. The only people really at fault at this moment are those that had unrealistic expectations and skipped school so that they could pay GTA: O. If the problems still exist in the next few days or week, then fault should begin to shift.

P.S. I'm not able to play either, I've been trying to for the past 30 minutes, but I'm not going to cry about it.

Neither am I going to cry about it, I've played GTA V the past ~2 weeks. The game will get settled in time, and in the meantime I can try to get 100% in the game and just herp around with cheats (because I don't think cheats are allowed in GTA: Online :)).

GTA: Online is just majorly an extra fun for me. People have just gotten to expect a truckload more than e.g. when GTA: San Andreas was published.

I absolutely agree, and it's particularly galling to continuously read how much R* spent developing the game only for the MP section to be delayed and then unworkable when it arrives.

I was.. "a bit disappointed" to hear that from the things I've read, that I likely won't be able to use GTAO when I finally get around to installing it.

But I'm at least thankful I'm not layin' on the floor, kickin' and screaming like a toddler about it.

"GImmie GTAO! I want (more) DLC!" - these are the people who rushed through the storyline thinking Rockstar would give them an endless stream of stuff to keep them busy for 16 hours a day. I knew this would happen (they TOLD us), so I paced myself through single-player.

And yet, the screaming toddlers persist. Here's a thought, go play the storyline again, try to actually get good at the game, instead of rushing into something only half-prepared.
