First I want to publicly apologize for giving quite a few members sh*t for saying auto aim is in. I had played the beta version of GTAO earlier this month and the feature was not allowed(for me at least) so I assumed that the people making this statement were jumping to conclusions due to the server issues and bugs taking place.

 

So feel free to discuss this now

You dont need to use auto aim... at all. rockstar said they improved aiming in this game compared to previous..... whats the point then????

 

Autoaim u can sit there camp... then just freely kill people who run toward you. Its making the game pointless.

 

Why not have a auto drive car then? how come cars are 100 percent skill and not shooting? that doesnt make sense.

So no GTAO for me then. I dont play with auto aim and you have no chance to win against auto aim with free aim on a controller...

O well, at least racing has no auto drive. Sad that R* still clings to auto aim.

haven't been able to get online yet but this is disappointing, what fun is there to be had in DM/TDM games if everyone can auto aim each other, its made them game modes completely pointless in my opinion. was hoping for all free aim it would make crew shootouts etc a lot more interesting and the better players would be rewarded

You can play with or without it, and everyone in the game session is equal.

Wow. Rockstar didn't create a separate free aim lobby? So weak. I started off in single player using auto aim, all though it was fun, I restarted to beat the game in free aim mode. The shoot outs were even better! Free aim made the game alot more enjoyable for me. Disappointing news....

Now I dont have a bit of skill either, but id rather feel like i accomplished something when i kill someone, rather than just pushing 2 buttons and getting it.

 

If everything that was hard was made easy, no games would be fun.... ever, this is the kinda thinking that ruins games

WHEW! As i started to read this thread i was really nervous because i think auto aim is just stupid. Now i am at peace :)

I'm not upset one bit. GTA is about a lot more than shooting, it's not CoD. GTA stands out because if gives you more options, you can be strategic. Strategy > Reflex Accuracy.

It's true that it warns you when you have free aim and you enter a Job with a different aiming settings, that's good, but imo auto aim shouldn't even be an option... Aim, spray like crazy, tilt a bit upwards, you win.

Dude, you were right. For the entire first day, I was stuck in free aim.

 

Now, today, I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to soft-lock on targets! YAY!
