How fast internet connection for Online?

How fast (and stable) should my connection be to allow me to access GTA Online?

 

So far I've had no luck accessing the game. I've tried several times during the last hour.

Right now it's:

 

Download: 3.6 Mbps

Upload: 656.0 kbps

 

It's an unstable wireless connection, btw. So it varies quite a bit, I think.

Trying playing on a wired connection if you can, Wireless is not so great to use whilst playing online.

 

But anyway, Many people can't join. So don't worry, I've turned off my console and I'm gonna wait a few or so hours.

My internet speed results :

 

Download speed : 1.949 mbps

Upload speed : 0.24 mbps

 

I have checked it via Scanmyspeed.com

I haven't had lag problems in a while, but time out a heap - 5-6 times in the last 2 hours.

Do you get "Unknown network error"? If so, then I've had it a lot too.

Put your console into the DMZ or forward the ports. Use a cable if you can too. That should help. Google these things: static ip on ps3/xbox, port forwarding, ports for psn/xbox live, ports for GTAO. That should help.

After the maintenance I had 48 hours of barely any timed out/disconnected issues. today back to normal, if not worse.

Give it a go if you haven't yet. Can make a hell of a difference.

 

Funny thing is unless i have a business account, i can't do any of the things you've suggested.

NAT changes, port forwarding and so on...can't touch.

 

The competition doesn't have the block in place, but they don't have the best signal.

Don't know what you mean by "business account" there. I'm talking about your standard household internet connection.

Hey guys a little off topic but didn't want to create a new thread.

 

Has anybody noticed that the lobbies are really empty since the 24 hour shutoff. I was playing last night night and there wasn't more then 8/9 players in every lobby i played in.

I'd tell them to stick their connection up their arses and get another ISP. If you can't do that, very bad luck indeed.

Indeed it is. They're good, problem is they know that and shove it back up your ass.

The blame usually gets put on our end rather than the server, but i've had people with way better connections say that they have problems too...

 

Doubt it's a money thing, a lot of people play this game and finding 16 people shouldn't be a problem.
