I have been trying since I got the update, created character after character, watched the same GTAO intro more than I would like to...reset my console time and time again....managed to get to the same intro scene *again* leading up to a race that there is no way to start.

 

Has anyone bypassed the first mission and if so, how?

 

Also has anyone actually been able to play properly?

I did a second race after the intro race but then I got timed out and I can't get back in

2 friends from same city have been playing for about 3 hours non stop without any problems.

I can't even start the very first race..
