Xbox crashes when trying to connect to a session

When I try to connect it loads, and the wheel stops spinning and the Xbox completely freezes. I hope this is a common problem and not just my sh*tty NAT config. I tried solo game but couldn't do anything in it. The race wouldn't start and you couldn't use the menu
