After the intro, it was stuck on "searching for players". I thought it glitched, so I turned my xbox off. Now I can't access online at all. Anyone know what the issue is?

I know. However, you said something about your disc in your previous post. It has nothing to do with your disc. It's a server side problem.

I wonder if a single person here realizes that it's the servers not the game itself. We've all seen in game demos of GTAO via console and have heard CVG report that it looks and feels awesome. All the problems people are experiencing are due to server overload, not the game itself.

The stupiest thing they did was probably to release it to everyone at the same time. If they released it by timezone it could have been different now. But i'm sure it's sonys fault that they couldn't roll out the update like that. And if it is a hardware issue we got to keep in mind that they can't travel with the equipment like in gta

Is the site going slow for you guys? Probably is. Now imagine the stress on the servers having millions of people trying to access online at the same time. If you honestly thought it would be smooth sailing then that's your fault.

We are all in panic mode right now but complaining about it does nothing. I think when you make the amount of money as Rockstar did with this game and see how popular it is, there is probably going to be problems with online gameplay at first even if they knew this ahead of time. It is what it is and when they fix it, I am sure you will all shut up and play.

 

Don't worry because soon you will ALL be modding and cheating and ruining my online experience when I spawn into a map and you will all be back to your normal immature selves. I will explode on respawn, get set on fire for no apparent reason, my car will get shot up into space with me in it, your vehicles will be like tanks on steroids and boy oh boy..........I can't wait for that, how lovely that is going to be.

Its exactly as lunytunes sais , wich genius came up with the idea of making the first intro mission a mandatory online mission , they saw the overload problems comming and yet they make sure you cant progress unless you go online even if you play solo. this and the character creation menu are MASSIVE mistakes wich should have been filtered out before it even came out.

 

and for al the rockstar defenders, idk but when i buy a car i expect it to work. they already got us so far that we accepted to drive around without tires for 2 weeks , but when after 2 weeks the tires finally come and they turn out to be flat ones cmmon...

you pay for a working product you dont pay for a product that still need developping thats what beta testers are for. think they went looking on the diablo 3 forums and descided to use their worst tatics and adopt them as their own for some god awfull reason. if some guy buys a 2 legged chair in the store everyone laughs at him bcouse its completely useless but when you buy an incomplete game pple actually start defending the makers weard weard world

anyone stuck on the online tips slideshows, my camera went into birds eye view (Character select) and now i have the online tips and its been like that for a good 15 mins. Do press home button and restart gta or just leave it there.....?

I can certainly appreciate the difficulty of launching a new service like this, but I definitely don't get how they can launch it when you can't even complete the 1st thing you're asked to do when Lamar picks you up. I've had a character get corrupted, I've tried two others and they both can't do anything once they get out of Lamar's car. Can't get in a car, can't interact with a store or do anything,

 

I haven't seen any communication and that's the frustrating part. I'm prepared for some quirkiness and issues at a launch like this, but I do find it laughable that they were unpreppared for the number of people who were going to be getting this game and wanting to use GTA Online.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind the few screw ups the first day? Sure, my game froze the first time starting the initial race. Sure, I pointed a gun at a store clerk in a hold up mission, and the clerk just stood there. Sure, there are a few pop ins, but WHO DIDN'T EXPECT THIS? Why the sudden outcry against issues that were almost guaranteed to happen? You guys should know not to trust Rockstar's word after the last few months anyway. I managed to do the first race (which also needs some tweaking), a mission to steal some drugs, a store holdup, and claiming my first car, without whining like a little bitch every step of the way, and I had a damn fine time doing it. If you are freezing and unable to get on at all, I understand you're anger, but to those who complain about pop ins and some lag, grow the f*ck up and learn that no game is perfect on day one anymore, no matter what company it comes from, or what that company tells you. It isn't perfect, it is being worked on, chill the f*ck out and wait patiently.

And to add insult to injury, my story is now glitched, in the fact that I cannot switch characters or trigger any missions when I walk up to a marker. I have no problems with first day teething problems but the fact that it has somehow f*cked my campaign mode has really jarred me

Well, then R* should have not waited 2 weeks to release GTA:O.

 

GTA: O should have been available at launch. By now, it would have had 2 weeks to fix things and most of the people would still be playing story mode.

 

As it stands. The majority of players have finished the story and are now all trying to get online at once while R* is trying to 'fix' things.

Just from experience, here are some of the things I've noticed after playing for roughly an hour:

 

DO NOT trigger events such as the shooting range or sport activities that require other players. I have timed out twice and have been booted off of the game.

 

DO NOT turn off the game while waiting for the first race mission to load when it says "Launching session." It runs the risk of deleting your character, it has happened to me once.

 

DO NOT select the bottom part of the character wheel if you cannot access GTAO from the pause menu. You will receive a black screen of death and must restart your console to fix.

 

The bit that I did get to play was fun, though. I was still able to hold up stores and buy weapons/pubstomp people. Do not exit GTAO if you are in at this point.. you might never get to play again

The title is how I imagine 90% of the forum reacting right now. Either because they cant access GTA Online, or because they CAN access it, but it sucks balls because of texture popping, beetlejuice characters, firetruck water, and whatever the hell else.

 

 

Keep all your complaints and venting about the online mode in this thread. Any other thread will be binned.

 

can you tell me how to even begin accessing online from the in game phone? I downloaded the update but the online char slot is empty/greyed out. How do you even begin to access the online profile setup so you can enter the game lobby?

New issue - can't go more than half the max speed in any vehicle.
Game breaking for just about any mission.

I considered going to work late this morning (I make my own schedule) and trying to get a few hours in. Then I decided, f*ck it, not worth a couple hours with work looming and I imagine there will be issues like server stability and various bugs to work out.

 

Instead I decided to drop in here and watch the GTA Online section of the forum implode. I am quite literally laughing out loud.

What I think is more sad is that people now accept this as the norm and curse at those who recieved a date and won't be able to receive a service on said date.

This isn't just a coincidence with rockstar, this has happened with almost every online game "lately", things like this over the years should be known by companies.

They'll continue to do this, because people will accept it.

You honestly think Rockstar didn't think GTAV would do good in unit amounts? C'mon, if you believe that your the consumer they want.

I also read a post by R* that they were still buying servers.

It's called penny pinching, they won't spend money to make sure the service is up and running on the same date and keep good value... they would rather keep upgrading, etc. even after the date to save as much as possible.

People took off for Oct. 1, they gave us a date to start playing, not a date to just acknowledge that servers are up, these problems were only mentioned close to launch and not during the initial release or before hand.

It's Oct. 1 now, puppets.

This is how high value service drops, b/c if the consumer doesn't care, then why should the provider?

Keep bashing people though, I guess that's what keeps you busy during the wait.
