I should be making some money to buy this stuff!!!! OOH ROCKSTAR! It angers me that some people are enjoying this game with a grin on their faces and I'm stuck here sobbing

 

Gotta love IT classes, they let you go online and that's why I'm here because today's class is dull :l

 

I assure you... it wasn't enjoyable. I couldn't do any missions and it was stuck with the directions to the race, which didn't exist on the screen. Even if I died it still had the "drive to the race" on the screen.

 

I couldn't buy any cars because I had no garage and no way to earn money to buy a garage... you're missing nothing.

 

GTA Online in this state is like playing single player with no missions and nothing to do except drive and shoot pedestrians and police.

 

But you didn't play then the real online. Some people has passed the first "tutorial missions" and are actually able to do stuff online. Here is an example;

 

I've seen also livestreams when they are roaming there and the map is full of blue blips.

I'm stuck on this screen too. I started trying to connect around 3:30 PM PST on the xbox360. My player just auto-walks to the mission marker and any maps or menus are inaccessible.

 

I've tried waiting for it to connect to players, returning to the dashboard, and all of the different sessions. Nothings happening. Haven't checked in half an hour.

 

yep had the same issue about 5 hours ago. i tried it for an hour and gave up. i guess i will try tomorrow. i got other things to do.

So it doesn't save your progress? You can still rob stores right?

You could rob stores. I walked right into a liquor store and a message popped up saying the store was closed because it had been robbed recently but it will reopen soon. I walked in, pistol whipped the register a couple times, and like $130 fell out. I picked it up, went and deposited it into my bank account via an ATM. About 20 minutes later, my system froze. Upon restart all my progress was gone.

If don't know how to post screenshots but used the trick of deleting the update(for Xbox users) and re-updating and I was able to play Online perfectly. I was even able to switch sessions to some of my crew members.

 

Actually, I think I can take screenshots with my phone, so after I take a bath I'll post some screens of me playing GTA V. To those who don't know the trick, (and this is only for Xbox users) go to settings and games and app. Pick GTA V and you'll see a list. Pick the one where it says update and delete it. Then play GTA V and it will ask if you want to update. Say yes and after it finishes, exit out of the game and sign back on to Xbox live(because you'll be offline when you open GTA V) Once you sign back on do and when it get's to the loading screen, quickly press A and you'll be Online.

From what I'm gathering with all the Sony users, it looks like things are shaping up(only a little) for Xbox users. Sadly, you two, it doesn't seem like there's anything for PS3 users at the moment. There was an update a little while ago for PSN, but I think that just turned out to be some trophy update.

I FINALLY BROKE THROUGH! After hours of frustrating and trying to get past the first race mission I finally got through it and completed it. Now my game isn't glitched out anymore and I can play online! Idk if this will help, but I started the game up and then just started online straight from the loading menu. I unplugged the controller and let it go through the loading process when you get to the marker and select your car. I put my battery back in my controller and for the first time ever it worked lol! Hope this helps, but it may have just been random luck.

So it seems pretty universal, and despite the flogging of the dead horse- something has gone terribly awry with the PS3 GTA Online client. Regardless of it it's PS or Rockstar the last real updates we've been given were that they are aware of the problems and working on it - but I've not encountered a single person whose been able to get past the starting area on PS3.

What I don't understand is how were even able to get into the first part, let alone why it consistently fails. I think the trap were all in is that we believe it's out of our hands but were not sure if we should just keep trying. Which is why clarity from R* or PS would make our lives a lot less brutal.

I'm also confused as to why if the cloud servers are down, I can consistently load up my created character and yet for some reason the individual mode still boots us.

Regardless all we can do is rage, but it's important to demand answers from the companies and not just bitch back and fourth.

 

As it stands now if you have an xbox, best of luck getting in, if you have a PS3 keep trying but be aware no one seems to be having any luck.

Now if you are going all out junkie mode, these guys are doing a 72 hour stream athon, it makes consistently trying to get online a little less and a little more painful for obvious reasons.

The fact that online sucks this bad is shocking. Generating over a billion dollars for sales in the first 3 days, the online should have been amazing. They should of known about the heavy demand to play, but now everyone is just in a really sh*tty mood about. This is outrageous. The number of problems with the game, and things associated with this game is a joke.

I also stole money from registers, even escaped a few police chases. I deposited money. Exited, tried going on again, but only got to the lobby. It did save tho, including the 10 bullets I have left

When exactly do you take out the pack and when do you put it back in. The alert, reconnect controller screen is covering the whole screen, how do I know when to take it out

i tried for a while to get the tutorial to start, no luck. Then i got an error saying something about the rockstar cloud being down, and that i could play online but i can't save my game. So i played for a little bit like that, but that's pretty boring. When i tried to join a new session, i had to replay the intro. still no luck getting the tutorial to start. Pretty upset.
