GTA Online Technical Issues

i lost my 400k house because there was no warning that purchasing the FREE collectors edition garage would remove my current garage AND house.... NO warning and now 400k worth of car modifications are also gone from my garage too... this is absolutely outrageous, someone i beg u to help me

I don't get why people are saying cloud is down... GTAO has been working for me with no problems but I just can't play because I lost my character. I'm NOT going to do a 3rd one, no way! Not until I hear something from R*

list of issues i've personally come across so far (Xbox).

 

-loading into limbo mode where you can't leave your apartment and the screen freezes and you watch yourself moving on the map

 

-garage full of vehicles magically disappearing

 

-people launching a game while others are still loading results in time out every time

 

-when joining gta online sometimes time out to a black screen where "push A" does nothing and have to exit to home screen

 

thats just to name a few of the most annoying issues. anyone else starting to feel like you paid money to beta test a game?

Lost my character for the 3rd or 4th time, this time I'm not going to be making a new one not because of money or rank but because I was really happy with how my character looked I cant be bothered to spend ages on the character creator again.

 

I'm praying Rockstar are going to be able to restore what's been lost

I lost level 16 character, 14 hours worth of gameplay gone. Now I made a new one in slot 2 and all my stats like cash and races won remains. This is so weird I can't even understand it.

It's like buying a new car and them saying they will give you the engine in a day or two and wait another week or so for the wheels.

Already seen that. The way they explained that is telling me I can make a character in the other slot. My 1st character never came back and now my 2nd doesn't seem to be coming back either so blah. Doesn't look good even though all my stats are still on the damn SC page. But I have no cash at all. What I DID do before I lost my character WAS press retry when I couldn't connect, that was two days ago and I didn't know about that problem until after. GTAO has been fine since then, I can connect every time, no errors... it's just a matter of should I wait (which I'm not doing good at) for R* to post something about this or just make a new character already. This sh*t is killin me

It all depends on you really if you don't mind losing your old character for good then go ahead, then again there's no guarantee that Rockstar are going to be able to restore it, So we could all end up waiting for nothing.

pfffff my account alsow just gon .... :S .....try go online ask to choose empty profile .can only see my money on it . going back to
story line....( start ----> online---> can't click jobs....say i need to do the tutorial bla bla bla ) if i press play online like Gta says .....
comes back everytime with the empty profile .....the quistion is for me ---> wil rockstar be able to fix it ? don't know wat to believe :S

Passive mode is a joke. I still get shot and killed and sticky bombed. In GTA IV multiplayer friendly fire off, when my vehicle got blown up by another player you didn't die.

just dont make new characters and wait it out, better the risking it those who have higher lvl chars and lots of time spent making them

Not showing: cash, bank, rank, profile pic (black mug shot), criminal record (skills all 0), favorite weapons, recent activity rank 1.

 

Showing: competitive stats, total earned, total spent,

 

 

It's like showing half and not showing the other half of my stats. SO WEIRD.

So you do not recognize the coherence between losing your character and the cloud being offline?

 

Imagine this:

 

The cloud is online and you log in. Start a session with other people and everything seems to work. In the meanwhile the cloud servers go down for a while. You do not notice this circumstance because your session is already in progress, hostet on a different server, independent from the metadata store / account management called "the cloud".

In the meanwhile the cloud comes back up. You decide to exit and everything is saved. Just like you would expect it. These steps might repeat over and over again until you at some point log off unaware of the fact that the cloud is offline. You end the session but the cloud is not aware of any changes you wanted to save because it is down.

 

So people who say they had no problems at all were just the lucky ones not logging off or logging in while the cloud servers they wanted to reach where down.

 

Quintessence:

 

You dont need the cloud service to keep a session running, you need it to persist changes and progress you made or vice versa, to retrieve the persisted data.

Ive not had any problems really since release,other than the servers being down.However i found out yesterday that while im joining a job my character remains in the world.So i was joining a game from an invite sitting in my car in passive mode,in the lobby waiting for the host to start and i can hear gun fire,screen flashes red.Says it timed out.Cuts back to my character with no car and a message saying"you car was destroyed make a claim etc"

This definitely shouldnt happen.

I envy you. I wish I had five days of game time. I'm only at Level 7 or 8 I think and I have never lost my character either. Hard to find time to play. But atleast I have my original character I guess.

Since xbox update I have been playing without issues. Cloud is saving my char, money and exp. I am always loading SP then use the wheel to get online. And before stopping to play, I always save my session by going back to a SP char using the wheel again. Never lost anything by doing so.

^ This: I enter and leave the exact same way without problems.

 

I haven't had any issues with losing any progress. Only minor hiccup I have noticed is that once or twice so far, when I am contacted by a NPC or another player to do a job, sometimes the details of the job will not display. During this time, I am unable to join any missions of any kind. So I switch sessions and everything is ok again.

 

-- As a side note: I created my main during gameday launch. After all of the initial issues with logging into the cloud, I created a second character in slot 2. Now that everything is "ok" my second character in slot 2 is gone but my main is back. But when I log into SocialClub, my online character is the slot 2 one but he has all of the stats as my main??? Weird....

 

-- Another bug I have seen has already been stated before. When in a car (not in passive) but waiting to join another player's job, I hear gunfire and my screen begins to go red. This has happened only once and luckily I joined the job prior to being completely killed. (thank god he/she was a horrible shot).

How much longer should we wait before creating a new character?

 

I'm desperate to play again but would rather wait until I know there is no hope of my pervious character returning before making a new one.

 

I still have my money showing and also my progress is still showing on my crew page.

i had two problems, when i was playing a race with a full game, i came first but it said i came 5th, than it said i was kicked by players, but i know i wasn't, any ideas?

Can't edit on my phone. Reason for issues is 'timeout'. I'm then booted back to the main game. Why not back to the online world, Rockstar? Everything feels slow about this.
