For one I didn't create a character. I logged off last night, through the start menu, logged back in and it was gone. For two, have u ever seen this with any other multi-million dollar business. I'm sure millions of players that have played cod or wow maybe has problems connecting but they never lost their progress. And for 3 it's been 5 days since release, not 1 or 2. 5 days and ur still picking up for them, why would u even side with rockstar when they failed at making a online so miserably people don't even take the game seriously anymore.

Slightly off topic...but...

 

Can anyone tell me the point in having multiple slots for character profiles online...surely you would invest all your time and energy into just one, no?

 

Although, funnily enough, im thinking about using the second slot now so I can play online with the hopes that my original character will return eventually...but apart from these server problems I don't see the point in another character for us to use...

I lost yet ANOTHER guy. This time I was at level 7, I was playing for like 2 or 3 hours straight. I didnt have a lot of cash because i spent it all on bullets. But come on! I have been forced to create 2 separate characters and now they are both gone! I have put in so much work and now I have nothing to show for it. R* is going to have to give all of us some free stuff, like maybe cash and cars and maybe like a game or 2. If not I will NEVER play any of their stupid games AGAIN!!

 

R* owes us something for all our hard work and nothing to show.

I'm not sure why they are not addressing these issues or making any statements about this. Its just ridiculous, I mean what kind of company does this kind of stuff to their loyal customers. They have shafted all of us and we don't deserve it.

Really?!?! You know you are playing a video game, and not working a job... What value do you place on hard work? and you say "R* is going to have to give all of us some free stuff, like maybe cash and cars and maybe like a game or 2." Are you really as much of an entitled little narcissist as you make your self seem? You paid $60 (or $150) for a game. In my opinion the single player alone was worth what i paid for this game. Look at GTA IV I paid that much last time and the single player was not nearly what it is now.

 

Before the game was released R* said that online was a work in progress. From my point of view it has been getting better everyday that I have played. This is much more of a response than I can say from nearly any other company trying to handle an online release of this type of magnitude. Also, you should recognize that interfacing through Xbox Live and Playstation Network adds just that much more complexity to the issue.

 

With two title updates, and multiple updates from R* this would constitute as them addressing the issues in less than a week from Online's launch.

Listen, I am not trying to start a beef with anyone. I am just saying that being forced to create multiple characters in order to play a game that I paid for is simply not fair. First of all they made everyone wait 3 weeks for the multiplayer to come out and I was forced to play through the single player mode while I waited. Then they promised that it would be up and running on OCTOBER 1st!! It is now October 7th or 6th or something and they still have done NOTHING to address the issue. I think for all the time and hard work that myself and many others have put into the game we should at least be compensated. I am sorry if I didn't make myself clear on my first post and it came off a bit narcissistic.

 

I am in the process of writing a lengthy letter to R* about the issue. I figure I will have to send it by regular mail though because they turned off their internets.

Level 30 character lost... I lost my 15 before this too. Just sucks waking up thinking ur going to play because everything was working finally and then u get taken to no characters. This games basically a waste of time and i think the games finally ruined for me. Fcking stayed up countless hours on both characters, bunch of retards work at cockstar... Seriously it's been 5 days since they released it... I didn't think it was possible to suck this bad

You know what, I think YOU should be the one who creates all the servers and upkeeps them, solo. You clearly seem to know everything and be able to run a $230,000,000 business, just because.

 

And you're the dumbass who overwrote your old progress and created a new character and lost your old in the process. Maybe if you worked or went to school, there'd be enough time to kill instead of sitting 2 feet from your t.v. waiting and crying all day.

Cloud servers have been online for many hours. Cloud is never offline more than 10-15 minutes. People saying this is just saying it cause theyre missing theyre characters. The characters on the cloud is either wiped or corrupt. Simple as that.

Ps3. Went to choose character and my guy with 100k is nowhere to be found. Rockstar has acknowledged the issue and said they are doing something right?

cloudservers are still down, theres a chance to get our chars back!

The servers seem to be up for me. I'm playing missions for the first time in days, and along with some people from my friends list. My progress 'seems' to be saving, and I'm seeing the spinning yellow (gold) cloud save icon in the bottom right of my screen after each mission.

I was playing half of the day today, reached level 17, then the servers went down. When I tried to load the game after a couple of hours, I returned to the screen where you make a new character. I'm so done with this game. I'm selling it. Massive bullsh*t. I'm never ever buying a Rockstar's game again earlier than a month after the release. WASTE OF TIME.

We should ALL be compensated for our TIME as well as punitive damages! I have spent hours using my man and building up his stats and now he is gone. And so I had to create another man and he's gone too. An so is all of their belongings and their money. It's not fair to me, it's not fair to them and it's not fair to the hundreds of others that this is happening to. Ether they start giving us free stuff, in-game perks and downloadable games, or they are going to be experiencing HUGE lawsuits. Because as soon as the first person sues them others will follow. And its going to cost them millions of dollars, this is a classic case of false advertising and lying to consumers and constituents.

 

And yes, we were all forced to play through the single player game because they withheld the online feature for many weeks. What else were people supposed to do?? So they pretty much forced everyone, including yourself, to play the single player wether they wanted to or not because the online wasn't there. Unless you got to go online early and that's why you are giving me a hard time about it.

 

I'm not sure what is so hard to understand about all this. You must work for R* or something.

@Grubes67 No beef, just responding to your post which I found to be a be unrealistic and ridiculous. I do not understand how you could feel that you should be compensated for a game that has delivered a massively spectacular single player game. The only gripe that I could understand from the Online mode is that R* did not turn off the cash cards until after the problems were fixed. I could understand someone wanting a refund or compensation if they had purchased a cash card and lost their stats. But I do not understand how someone could feel they need to be compensated for losing a character that is in no way monetarily linked. If GTA V was only and online game and did not have the awesome SP portion then I would agree that this game was a failure but that is not the case here.

 

I also do not understand why everyone wants to fuss and complain so much when they were told before the game was launched almost 3 weeks ago that the online portion would be broken. This is like going to buy a car, the owner tells you that there is a knock in the motor, you buy it anyways, then down the road the enigine blows and you blame the guy you bought it off of. But with GTA V R* says hey there is a knock in the engine, we will fix it for you. It may take a couple weeks, but if you want to go ahead and drive the car then you might experience some issues until we fix them.

Is a game? So i bought the game,why they want sell me gta dollars on psstore? IF is a game you do a multiplayer service for payment and you are justified to lose all my leveling work on my profile? Is a game yes but i pay real money for this game and i want a real good service and not a shiat service.

Why is it ok for a company to sell a faulty product, just because it's a game? Game companies get away too easily with this and people actually defend them. I feel GTA online is in the BETA and we paid 60 dollars to play a beta version of a game.

I am sorry if I didn't make myself clear on my first post and it came off a bit narcissistic.

 

I am in the process of writing a lengthy letter to R* about the issue. I figure I will have to send it by regular mail though because they turned off their internets.

 

 

Compensated for what? An online character being deleted? Get a grip will you its a game

 

As for the part about being "Forced" to play through the single player game, Nobody made you buy the game on release did they? Did somebody hold a gun to your head and force you to play the thing?

 

 

 

We should ALL be compensated for our TIME as well as punitive damages! I have spent hours using my man and building up his stats and now he is gone. And so I had to create another man and he's gone too. An so is all of their belongings and their money. It's not fair to me, it's not fair to them and it's not fair to the hundreds of others that this is happening to. Ether they start giving us free stuff, in-game perks and downloadable games, or they are going to be experiencing HUGE lawsuits. Because as soon as the first person sues them others will follow. And its going to cost them millions of dollars, this is a classic case of false advertising and lying to consumers and constituents.

 

And yes, we were all forced to play through the single player game because they withheld the online feature for many weeks. What else were people supposed to do?? So they pretty much forced everyone, including yourself, to play the single player wether they wanted to or not because the online wasn't there. Unless you got to go online early and that's why you are giving me a hard time about it.

 

I'm not sure what is so hard to understand about all this. You must work for R* or something.

 

You are just being ignorant now. Time and punitive damages for you choosing to play a game. No one forced you to play the online portion....... You're trying to include legal speak into an argument where it has no place.

 

 

 

So by your logic than people who work hard and are successful at something have no right to be compensated for their hard world? And a company just has the right to turn off the internet and erase your work without notice or without explanation. I am sorry if you don't understand legal speak, but it doesn't change the fact that there are 2 characters out there that are my intellectual property and they were deleted without any reason or notice. Put yourself in my shoes or in their shoes for that matter and how would you feel if you were suddenly erased and then re-created and then erased again??? I doubt you'd be too impressed with that now would you?

 

You are right when you say that noone forced me to play the online portion, but I was forced to play the single player portion for over 3 weeks. Now I've been waiting patiently for days to play the online and its been nothing but one problem after another and it's not right. And all I'm asking for is some compensation for my work and stress. I don't think that is too much to ask for.

It's not a character deletion problem, the servers are down!! Therefore there is no character on file.. Make sense? Don't make a new character.

Anyone who comes in here to tell people they're wrong about complaining or are here to argue with someone that is upset about the online not functioning properly shouldn't be able to post at all, it's off topic. This is a technical forum and people are here to view technical problems. Some people are here to listen to others problems not to bash them or judge them. So sick of these no buddies that come in here to hand down life lessons to the ones who are upset in a TECHNiCAL PROBLEM topic.

We should start calling characters MIA (Missing in action) from now until R* says everything is going to remain as is. (Like the servers are good now)

As some people get their chars back and some don't.

Just sayin, it suits it better then deleted as some are getting them back so they aren't 'deleted' yet.

 

I'm going to check on the PS Servers now (being my character is level 4 and i could give 2 sh*ts if he gets deleted because I wasted a LOT of money early on)

I'll get back to everyone in a minute on the PS servers.
