Yes. I have found that, even being friendly in free mode people will shoot on sight. Total BS, but maybe if I had a mic I could at least talk to them. So today I think I'll pick one up.

I drove up to them, honk my horn or maybe do a friendly burnout and they blast me. GRRRRR

So Xbox users are just shafted until whenever cockstar decides. Great job.

You can blame Microsoft and their approval process for title updates for that ...

Everyone is shafted, except COCKSTAR, they are making millions off of this game..

You guys call yourself fans of GTA? Why not wait and be patient? On the day of release that's about 8.5 million people jumping onto the online at once, so of coarse things are going to be awful, you try making a game this awesome and keeping it under control 24/7 when 8.5 million people play at the same time the first time this was released public

I guess I will say that I respect your opinion. It's just that it is kind of silly to say how everyone else should feel. I would say that people are pissed off because they are fans. If they didn't give a sh*t would anything be said at all? I am glad you can kick back and relax over it. I am in the same boat. I do however understand that people are a bit upset and rightfully so.

As a person who's been in the business world a long, long time, and in the IT and Networking world just about as long, this isn't a fan problem. This time it is in fact Rockstar who screwed up monumentally. As a corporate entity, you have to set your expectations to align with the fans. There was hardly a complaint worth mentioning that Online play would start two weeks after the launch. Sure some people pissed and moaned, but it wasn't a huge backlash. Expectations were set properly. They informed their consumer base of the date and that was that.

Had they of told their ....

......... But don't tell everyone how they should feel. Time is the single most precious commodity any one of us has. We can make more money, buy new sh*t, whatever. Wasting time, you never ever get time back. Once spent, it is gone, and people have a right to be pissed off when you waste their time.

Working in IT and Networking means you aren't a child. So after reading this I'm going to hold you to a higher standard than most of the kids on here.

Every highly anticipated game with open world, MMO like features has gone through the same hiccup. (Let's not start throwing FF and Fable in there, because we know WoW and D3 releases made those look like indie games). If you were to put money on a good online release vs a bad online release, would you put money on everything going smoothly? Or would you bet on hiccups occurring?

World of Warcraft

Starcraft 2 (And this isn't even an MMO or open world)

Diablo 3 (The most notably recent example)

Note that when i say highly anticipated, I'm talking years in the waiting. You can't really cite GTA 4 as an example of a crisp online release because GTA 4 Online vs GTA 5 Online are apples and oranges.

World of Warcraft - Not just the very initial release, but there were also times when patches came out, where the patches would cause bugs here and there and random disconnects. And Blizzard extensively tested these patches on PUBLIC test realms.

It's all about making money. They're going to estimate the amount of people they assume is going be representative of an actual number of players logging on - and go from there. Buying tons of servers and then overshooting that number hurts your bottom line. Tell me, if you were in charge of something like this, you wouldn't take the same step to maximize your profit that you just raked in....

Another thing is, treat the GTA 5 Online release much like the construction of a freeway. The freeway's capacity is estimated based on normal conditions. Thus, if a hurricane passes through, everyone's gonna be stuck trying to get out of the city. (Millions trying to log on simultaneously right now = people running from a hurricane.)

The servers are only going to packed to the brim for the first couple months. Then they'll probably never be packed at capacity again. Rockstar is also thinking for themselves. As would any company releasing a hot new product The $60 we all paid wasn't purely for the Online aspect, so we can't say that we were robbed or ripped off, as they are working to fix it, while dealing with criticism from the fans AND media outlets. The fact that you still see updates coming out at 1AM EST means they have people on it. And as a member of the IT/Networking community, you should know how annoying it is when you're being badgered by people who aren't doing anything but complaining when you're already trying your best. (And half the time, said people complaining, have absolutely no idea what they're talking about...much like backseat drivers)

Please remember, Rockstar is not only trying to fix these problems but probably also ensuring that these fixes will work smoothly with the "time released" content that will become available within the coming weeks/months. Not all the "planned" Online features have been implemented according to sources.

First, let me start off by saying that I agree with both of these statements by "ptung" and "Maestro" above. As an engineer I deal with development phase, alpha testing, beta testing and all of the loops holes required until product release. There are always "bugs" in every situation when it comes to software/hardware development. You are held to a certain standard of development and testing and must meet that standard before even thinking of passing each "gate" of the development process. If those standards are not held, and things are released prematurely or not tested properly, then expect to receive a lot of black eyes in the community (now is a prime example).

With that said, I'm more disappointed in R* than anything. I've played many of MMO's in my day. I know that NOTHING runs smoothly on launch. But this is an absolute failure. We are now on day four with the same issues as before. Sure, things may be easing up and getting better for some. But a majority of the GTA community is still unable to play as intended.

For anyone to think that after +5yrs of development they release a game (in which two weeks later the "Online" version is launched for some ungodly reason which doesn't make sense to even the mentally ill) and have an issue like this? I do agree with "Maestro" in saying that it was probably some suit who doesn't know what they are talking about. He/She made a decision which left all of the brains in the company shaking their heads. And now they are dealing with it.

Bottom line is that they stated a release date for the game (single and multi versions). They boasted about the capabilities of the MMO for weeks. And then they failed to deliver even a semi-stable product in the end. Now.... we sit here awaiting for some communication from them giving us promise that this will be fixed within the next day or so when they don't even know how long a fix will take...

What's almost as baffling as R* business and development practices are the people who can sit here and say, "Don't blame R*"....

Worst part is ,they will be releasing DLCs and crap in a short while and they will make more money:(

At this point with the current situation and way things have gone, I think some of their fan base might rethink those purchases.

That is when they will see who made threats of being done and who made promises.

Unfortunately, I feel that most of those people stating that they were done with R* or said "F U" to them will most likely still buy more products from them. That's why companies, such as R*, continue to produce poor products and services and get away with it. The only time actual businesses learn from their mistakes is when their customers actually make them learn from it by sticking to their guns and not purchasing them.

If my employer put out a product that I had a hand in, and it had performed as horribly as GTAV Online.... I might not have had a job to come back to...

Hey

I'm able to join GTA Online, but there are no other players when I do so. I'm just alone on the map. When I try matchmaking to find other players for a job, I can't find anyone. It worked only once so far and I found 1 stranger to play with, but he left and I couldn't find anyone again after that.

What could I do to fix this?

I think so, I completed the race, killed the guy with the drugs, bought new clothes, added a tracker to my car and then I had to go to Cypress Flats.

This game is seriously making me sick.

I've been sitting around for 4 days now eating nothing but PF Changs waiting for the stupid game to load. I have had absolutely no luck. And I am really starting to feel sick because of this. I think that maybe I'm just going to turn my PS3 off and come back in a few days when all these problems are fixed.

Grubes67 has been cracking me up with his PF Changs post. Good work, buddy.

The handful of times I've actually bothered trying to log in its froze up on me. I'll give it another shot tonight. Hopefully it'll finally work.

Step 1) Push & hold clutch pedal down

Step 2) Shift from first to second

Step 3) Release clutch pedal

Repeat steps 1 thru 3 until desired gear is reached....

(sorry... couldn't resist)

Not sure. But the ps3 update didn't fix everything. Still issues with losing all your progress. That's frustrating.

And that is exactly why a few complaints would be justified... And ofcourse the complaints and negative feedback are things we can expect aswell, just like the "hiccups in the launch"... I mean sure, you can complain about people complaining, but it's still bound to happen.

So I agree with MaestroPendejo, but I also agree with you to the extent that I think anyone who's saying things like "I'm returning the game and never buying their product again" are total morons.

So yes, I've been frustrated with these 4 days of trying and hoping to play the game, but I understand they're (R*) not really happy about this either as they're hard at work, probably doing waay overtime work...

But I think they could've handled this better.. At least communicationwise...

And as there's been so many problems, it's hard to believe they didn't notice anything wrong with it until the release.

BUT that said, just played for a few hours with no problems and I gotta say: it was sweeeeeeet.

Until the connection timed out and now it says the rockstar cloud is unavailable. But at least I got a taste of the fun.. It makes everything a little better already :)

I advice you not to make a new character... At least to the same slot.

As your character may be there, but it just can't connect at the moment.

I'm excited to see how their sales are for DLC's after this fiasco.

Let's see all of the fans (who are done with R*) follow through with their statements!
