Poor character customisation?

I finally got a descent looking Mexican character I was hoping for! Thank God! Now I'm just struggling to get online >

Terrible idea for customizing characters in my opinion. My guy looks like a marine that was punched in the face too many times. Not a huge issue for me though.

For the amount of content available on gta online they had to sacrifice the character customization options not really allowing us to get in depth with creating unique characters but rather everyone mostly looking the same which does suck don't get me wrong but in all honesty I rather have more things to do online rather then different looking characters.

 

Perfect example is saints row 3 and saints row 4. The character creation is %95 the reason the game has no space left available to have a multiplayer mode a d that's why the game only supports 2 person coop. Thank god rockstar didn't axe free roam on gta like dumbass violition.

Worst character creator I've ever seen. You can't go back change it either. I haven't managed to get online so going to re make my character. Can someone explain it to me whats all this heritage crap? Each option is giving me so much randomness its awful. The stats thing is terrible to.

Was anyone able to alter the body itself? I can only alter the facial expression. And that is not very intuitive.

My biggest issue is that the icon for grand parents is so small you really can't tell wtf your getting, and parents while slightly bigger you still can't tell the fine details..

 

And don't even get me started on the hairstyles and more importantly the beards... You can't even call what they added beards! its stubble at best, not to mention theyr all stuck on one horrible generic color that dosnt fit ANY hair color.

 

Not to mention the age slider, that dosnt seem to add a single wrinkle .. the supposedly 40 year old character i made had baby skin.

Just logged on and must agree its a complete joke. I tryed making a character that looked normal , but you either look like a crack head or a pedo.

This to, I don't know why the f*ck R* made the males so damned short.. it even makes alot of the clothing look straight out weird.

 

Id rather have a hardly noticeable disadvantage against female character then having to look like a circus midget.

The creation tool makes them look awful, but my guy looked really good in the cutscene (the only bit of GTAO I've managed to see)

Started the game, and this dude has 99 bruises on his face.. Like wtf?

 

Looks like he flew to LS on the landing gear.

I hate character creators in general. Even in likes of Mass Effect they come out looking inbred.

 

I have to say though, this is particularly bad. And the whole heritage thing is just a horrible way to do it. I agree with Deffpony as I do think one has better luck randomizing and then tweaking when you find something that isn't abhorrent looking.

 

Also, the chicks do indeed look better. Must be some sort of response to all the misogyny claims.

Honestly, I agree. Cannot make it to look anywhere like myself whatsoever. My character looks like an ugly smackhead. It seems like Rockstar were just too lazy to put in a more advanced system so they just let us choose "parents" and have the outcome. I didn't wanted something as advanced as Saints Row per se, but the least I could do is have some control over what he looks like.

I kinda agree, the char customization is a little wonky.

 

I DO Know appearently you can EXTREMELY heavily customize their gear in a thread on this forum, but the actual appearence is strange.

 

I wasn't expecting the sims, but its a little hard to make him look how you want.

 

Also my character's extremely short, which is a bit of a disappointment. (Lamarr even commented on it. was tiny compared to him)

 

Either way I can't even play online (Ps3 servers down) so I'm not really sure how customizable the characters really are.

 

 

Who knows, maybe later on we can find a way to edit the appearence more.

I'm hoping that they improve the character creation down the track - atm, APB blows it out of the water, and it really shouldn't, even though its a PC game.

 

I must say though it's only slightly worse than I expected, I guess I just hoped that it would be closer to APB than what it is currently.
