GTA IV online multiplayer worked flawlessly from the start

GTAO is its own beast so why couldn't they just throw in some separate online multiplayer modes from the start? Like in IV, just pull up your phone and connect to the modes without launching GTA Online. That way we can keep the same caliber of graphics without all the server and lag issues that go with GTAO. Give us options dammit!

Because there's no modes like that. It all works out of joining them through free-roam. It's how the game is designed and unfortunately there are now problems at release. Go do something else for a few hours and come back. GTAV also sold more than GTAIV, as well as it being a more advanced online system.

First of all, you need to understand that, the server overload they are having is abnormal. When GTA IV came out, people wanted to play through the story and single player. There was no hype around Online, let alone a specific date for release.

Also, GTA IV's multiplayer on consoles, to this day doesn't seem to work properly like it was meant to, so I don't know what you're talking about.

IV online has been smooth and lag free for me all the time. What are you talking about?
