Anyone worried R* will make the game less fun protecting people?

I like the idea's of being able to kill other players and taking their money, Or seeing a player with a nice customized car and stealing it to put in my garage(even if you can't have insurance on it that way) or just pvp in general but I'm worried that we will never see any of these features actually go down in game thanks to passive mode. I mean let's be honest here I imagine joining a room and all 16 people be in passive mode leaving no room for any pvp and if they leave passive mode to do a heist will probably just hop right back in it. There is an EXTREMELY small chance you run into anybody outside of passive mode and an even smaller chance you actually kill them and get money from them since they will just stay godmode 100% of the time and never be killed without making it to an atm. I mean why would you not use passive mode? start the game go straight to passive so nobody can bother you in any way then if you decide you do want to kill someone switch out. There is no reason not to be passive non stop.....The cars will probably be locked or something dumb so you can't ever get any other cars. Already can't shoot during activities so safe there too. I just think passive mode needs a cool down where you can only use it 3 times in 24 hours or it needs to cost WAY more money to activate like 10k or even 50k each time you want to use it to prevent the game from being stale and basically a 1 player game because everyone is just godmode constantly.

If they didn't have some limitations then wouldn't the online feature be super similar to APB? They may be trying to shy away from that. Though I do agree a good amount of mayhem is fun...Just not Trevor's level of Mayhem all the time lol.

Although passive mode will be abused there are legitimate uses for it, what I believe needs to be done is to limit the amount of actions one can use in passive mode. For instance if someone wants to deposit money in passive mode they'll get hit with a 40%+ hit on the money deposited. Whereas someone who doesn't won't get such a penalty, you need to make it so passive mode is "Playable" but give people incentives to get out of passive mode. (Of course others may wish for more things to be limited!)

Do you really want to play with the people who prefer the passive mode experience? I'd assume without it, the game would then be full of whiners and butt hurt players clogging the forums and RSC with complaints.

according to cvg -who have been playing gtaonline early- in the normal servers you can't use your weapons in passive mode, otherwise it turns it off. passive mode is there to help people who just want to customize their cars and characters; or play minigames.

 

i assume, like read dead, they will have friendly servers for people who don't want to be in a constant fight.

No, I don't. Remember, this isn't like GTA4. GTA Online is very much an open world game, with it's own missions and activities. There is more to do than just killing people. They want you to focus on getting money, doing missions and heists, having fun with friends in coop.

 

I think you can still just randomly kill people if you want, but if that is ALL you do and you're playing the game just to annoy people, that is when they start punishing you. And I'm fine with that.

Passive mode only works if you don't use a weapon at all, and don't get into a vehicle. You can still die from falls, accidents, getting hit by cars, etc. You just cannot be shot while on foot, however if somebody RPGs you in a car, you will still die and drop your money.
