JayDM420
NOT RELATED TO DRIVING PHYSICS Who else really wanted to use a manual transmissions in this game? I thought it would AT LEAST be a customization on a car. Instead it just gives you a "Race Transmission" which only boosts acceleration arcade style. I also had hopes of all motorcycles being a manual and actually click through gears during a wheelie or carving a corner. What do you guys think? DLC Manny tranny for a car/motorcycle mod? Or would that be way too hard to develope this late in the game?
cksiz
I don't think the shifting is advanced enough for an arcade style manual. It is much better than any previous GTA game but not quite there. I could see it becoming a larger programming task than an 'add on.'
chitoryu12
Someone complained about this before the release in a near-identical manner. The problem is that there's just too many commands and not enough buttons. GTA V has basically stretched the control scheme of a typical console controller to its limit, and it still needs to have button combinations and prolonged presses with alternate functions to have enough space for every single option. There's simply not enough room without a full PC keyboard for shifting to be done in any reasonable manner, and it would need to be done perfectly to avoid "If you can't do it properly, you shouldn't do it at all" complaints. TommyK154
most GTA players are racing 'casuals' so they probably wouldn't enjoy it so R* probably won't bother. That being said I'd love to see manual gears and real acceleration through real time rpms. I'd love to see turbo lag and supercharger options. Its such a tease though cause when you look inside of most vehicles you see a stick shift and when driving you can actually hear him "click" through gears and theres even a slight delay sometimes. It could be so much FUUN And they could do it with the current button layout. RB is a handbrake which could be the cinematic view(freeing up B for shift up) and if right on the pad could switch weapons (who needs to be able toggle lights?) X would be free to switch down. Two handbrakes makes no sense. Edited October 1, 2013 by JayDM420

I completely understand what you mean. R* made a racing game Midnight Club LA and there were so many things for the buttons to do. I believe by default the gears where up and down on the RS which just doesnt work. Thankfully you could do custom key binding in that game but I ended up having to completely unbind things like the convertible top button and other non-essentials to make room for the essentials

Out of 1100 votes over 500 people were expecting more realistic driving. We're here and we would enjoy the f*ck out it And if I remember correctly in interviews on gameinformer mag they stated they were trying to cater to racers. On man after you said supercharger options all I thought about was a drag costumization on a dukes or bravado.
