LazlowsucksiloveslutS
No, this Toshiba crap isn't gonna be fast for GTA IV. This, however, is: http://www.maingear.com/custom/notebooks/nomad17/index.php
Extronic
Sadly, but Dollarhide is right. Keep in mind youre gonna pay double price for roughly the same perfomance desktop/notebook wise.

luceberg
The important thing is you need it to have a separate graphics card, not just the integrated one in the cpu chip. All of those kmart lappies have integrated graphics, so no good. Look for ones that have Nvidia or AMD graphics, a 540m or 5650m level would be ok. As for cpu, try to get an i5 as it has 4 cores, better for gta4.

topcat5665
If your budget is that limited, why do you not get a console? You have to be paying at least around £400-£500 to get some low-medium graphics. There is no way that laptop will run any game. If you are looking at desktops however, you can actually build a PC that can run games decently for a cheaper price, I am guessing that you do not have experience with computers so the only way of you achieving this is to go to a local computer store and ask them to build it for you, which could be quite expensive; however it is worth trying. Take a look at this video:
unc13bud
original poster, i could tell you to buy a trinity or richland mobile laptop, but if playing gta iv burns up your laptop - what would you do? cheap laptops usually have cheap cooling and hard to access (replace) CPU/gpu bays
mrshane88
Yeah, too bad wal-mart doesent get good gaming laptops in or I'd put one on layaway. All they have are 200-700$ laptops with poor gpu cards. I check everytime I'm in there and the most dedicated gpu was only 700mb ati. One of those 1,500-3,000$ laptops would run anything you could think of. You'd be set for years to come. Don't waste your money, if you want to game always checks to see if it has a good gpu and cpu first. You could cut corners and get cheaper laptops with semi-new gpu cards like gtx 260m, gtx 285m, gtx 460m. I've heard they hard decent performance, I was thinking about getting a laptop with one of those and upgrading from my geforce 9800m gts. I assume gta4 would run better. But my laptop won't take an i3, i5, or i7 cpu. So I'm stuck with cpu chips like T9900 or Q9200 which only clock so far. My laptop is from 2008. Gateway fx p-7805u, it was 1200 brand new and its already out-dated. Good thing I only paid 200$ on ebay for it lol. But laptop gaming has come a long way, a new gaming setup with gtx 770m should run all these newer games at high settings no problem I've heard. On another note, I would opt out to get a PS3. But many people say GTA 4 and 5 suffers frame rate loss due to the PS3 having older hardware from 2005, and the PS3 has a gpu of gtx 7800 which is out-dated. And if you buy the newer versions of PS3 you won't have backwards compatibilty to play PS2 and PS1 games. So I just as well save up for a gaming laptop for 1,500$ which I know will run all the games I want. Desktop gaming is cheaper if your into that and don't mind only playing games at home. radioman
Yeah, too bad wal-mart doesent get good gaming laptops in or I'd put one on layaway They do, you just have to go to walmart.com and use the Site-to-Store option to where it gets shipped to your local Wal-Mart store. Plus, the store do have decent ones, as at Wal-Mart #1362, I found one that had an AMD A8 Quad core processor, 4GB DDR3 Ram, and an ATI Radeon card with 1.4GB vram for $598 and it was marked down to $548-that should run the game quite well, I would think? I always check the specs on the laptops that they have on display from time to time when I go to Wal-Mart-I do it by going to the DXDIAG screen on the laptop since they have them set-up and can be used...Good way to compare laptops I would say-LOL OT-Why bother upgrading a laptop, when it is better and a whole lot cheaper to just build a desktop PC-that can be done for around $500 or less for a decent build. Plus, you would get better performance on a desktop more than likely? Edited October 26, 2013 by radioman
