How long do you expect to be char creation?

Me. A very long time. I want to make sure I'm from Blaine county and I'll spend a very long time if there are a lot of options. I'll even spend a half hour on choosing my family lol. Can't wait.

Like Skyrim or The Sims, I probably won't get passed this phase. I'm one of those people that's never satisfied so I just give with my character and shut it off, or in this case, back to single player.

Personally, this is a feature I could careless about. Of course until I actually try it first hand, I'm not going to say it's bad or anything. But eh I just want to create my guy and go explore. All the skills level up in time anyways.

same here man. I work and have night class tomorrow, so I'll get about 2 hours after work before class and 2 hours after class before I gotta get to sleep for work the next day. So I'm planning on spending that first 2 hours making sure my character is exactly how I want him and checking out some of the hair cuts and clothes that I'll be able to get later down the line.

I guess I will spend about an hour on my character creation, maybe more. I am very picky and always want my character to be perfect. Especially since you won't have sliders for facial features but instead for stats or chosing parents, it might take long. I don't care about the stats, as long as the character looks unique and how I want him/her to look like.

I tend to spend an unhealthy amount of time with good, in-depth character creation systems lol Having never used a system quite like this one though, it's hard for me to predict how much time I'll spend with it.

I don't hink so. I am not sure how much grand parents and parents we can choose from, but if it's like 20 different grand parents (you can pick 2 grandparents) and then for each combination of grandparents 20 different parents available, that might lead to a high amount of different looking characters you can end up with. Plus chosing your stats which alter their appearance, hair style, clothes etc. I guess there will be plenty enough variety.

I usually play a lot of sports games and get so sick of the typical create a player. Since this is much more of a role playing type game, I think it sounds fantastic. I can't wait to see what my guy ends up like. Being able to pick stuff like how much sleep, then seeing it translate to attributes, is pretty awesome to me.

Some of you might be disappointed. The character creation system is nowhere near the level of skyrim, or even saints row. You get basic options, and unique ways to "shape" your character, but you arent Mr Potato Heading your character

It's supposed to determine on how your character comes out looking, but you can still customize how you like and what not.

most other character creators you end up spending a butt ton of time messing with sliders for foreheads, chin's, nose, bridge of nose, and so on - the parent system seems to streamline a lot of that process - pick parents with various facial traits you like, fine tune with which gene is dominant , and blam you're done.

@Boos: theres not much official info on it, but Im telling you because I played it

 

I made three different characters when I played.

 

First you select your grandparents races on both sides of your family. So your Mothers mother can be black, and her dad can be european. The same goes for your dads parents. Then you alter the way your parents look by sliding between their mom/dad to determine the dominant traits. Then you can slide your own character between mom/dad to determine who give him is dominant traits. Then you can change the hairstyle, color, and basic outfit, along with his daily routine.

 

You are given 24 hours out of the day and you have to allot each hour to an activity. You must spend at least 4 hours sleeping(maybe its 6). One of my characters had the least amount of sleep which gave him rings under his eyes, and he spent most of his time on "criminal activity" which kind of gave him a scrappier look. But you can decide if they drive or lounge or whatever within these hours. That will determine their stats and slightly affect their look.

 

The rest happens as you level up and unlock items. You can unlock more clothing, haircutes, facial hair, makeup for girls(or even guys lol) jewelry.

How many character slots are we given. I was under the impression of just one.

You cant pick their weight or height, but where they are from determines that.

 

@Lagful: It was more than 4. Hopefully thats not something they remove but Im fairly certain its there to stay. The Online characters are treated like save slots. Whenever you pick one to play as, that will become your defauly character until you switch again

You dont choose your grandparents, you choose their ethnicity, which changes how your parents look. Much like the way your parents change how you look.

I think the "parents" menu will be similar to the "genetics" menu in The Sims games.

 

With the character editor being like SR2 or 3
