Hav0k304
I'm starting to seriously doubt if these 'missions' in multplayer are actually full missions with things to kill and storylines ect, and not just some random playlist job like a standard deathmatch or something, by reading the preview on gta o clock they mention that when you go to do a mission your given a list of playlists like team deathmatch or something.. It would seriously destroy GTA V for me, the single player was ok while it lasted, 69 missions is pathetic for a game of this scale, i dont have any memorable missions that i enjoyed apart from the combat heavy ones, and they where not many of them. half of the missions where drive to here do this kill 2 people then drive here mission done, I seriously hope that these 700 missions are actually proper missions and not just playlists or crappy custom made content, single player is patheticly boring and theres nothing to do once it's completed so gta online has to have a HELL of a lot of content, I hated GTA IV online, in freeroam it was pathetically boring. people would just rpg you as your drove past them and people would just run around doing silly things that kids find funny. races got boring after the 3rd race, and team deathmatch was basically a crap version of CoD that felt like a pointless skirmish. i played gta IV mp for around 2 hours and i have never played on it again. all of the older GTA games had tons of missions and things to do, gta V thinks you have tons to do when actually it doesnt, it seems like they have focused on online and abandoned the single player in the hope that everyone forgets how BAD gta V single player was. i hate to think how good this game could of been with more missions and things to do in single player. sure some people like playing online to f*ck about and do pointless things but for me gta has allways been about the story and length and gta V serioulsy lacked that. i Guess we will find out tomorrow but i highly doubt ill be playing the online for more than a day. M'aiq the Liar
Don't get your hopes up. 500-700 missions of depth sounds way to good to be true. Rockstar is exaggerating the amount of missions or they will be generic as hell.
R.R
So you're expecting 700 story based missions? Yeah, good luck with that.
KillaDanny
Im guessing it's normal missions... "go there, kill him, go back" at least the first missions will be like that... Now the missions for higher level (which supossedly requires a team to do) will probably be more complex although 500-700 really sounds like a lot... Hav0k304
So multiplayer is going to basically be a sandbox game with 16 other players getting chased from the cops and killing peds? Lol. ill play it for about 2 hours if thats the case and call gta V a major dissapointment.
R.R
Pretty sure it isn't the games' fault that you can't use a significant portion of your brain. There's a ton of info out there on how the Online will go, and has been for quite a while now. Maybe try reading some of it.
metallipunk
i agree with a lot of other posters. the missions will be generic, at least most of them will be. I wouldn't be surprised if they will all be that way.
dewan2000
69 missions is pathetic for a game of this scale, i dont have any memorable missions that i enjoyed apart from the combat heavy ones, and they where not many of them. half of the missions where drive to here do this kill 2 people then drive here mission done, Not to sound like a fanboy or anything. But you must have a pretty poor memory. Many of the missions were very well done and a step up from previous games. Tell me how many missions you recall from GTA 4 that didnt involve driving to point A, shooting a few people, then driving to point B. Previous games felt a bit dragged out and a huge amount of the missions were just filler missions that did not fit into the storyline. Those missions are still there in GTA 5, but in the Freaks and Strangers and random events. There are atleast 130 missions in GTA 5 singleplayer, how is that not enough? Hav0k304
5 years of develpment for 69 missions, good graphics and pointless activitys, sea that ill never even look at, and a over hyped gta online that will be major flop.

KillaDanny
i agree with a lot of other posters. the missions will be generic, at least most of them will be. I wouldn't be surprised if they will all be that way. they will probably be like quests from MMO so some of them will be generic and simple (I guess)

How many missions were there in GTA 4? And how many of them were pretty much all the exact same or didnt fit into the storyline at all...If you add up all the side missions and random encounters in the game, its much much more than 69. Its better to have a good well paced story, than a dragged out one that gets boring near the end.
TeCNeEk
You think the single player would have 69 missions that are deep and story-driven, AND you believe that Online will have 500-700 missions of the same quality? Keep dreaming. They will probably be more generic. It will still be great.

Hav0k304
Even the Heists what they said where a major part of the game where so boring and easy, they said there was going to be 8 they said u needed to carefully plan it and choose your crew members carefully when i just picked the one with the highest stat and clicked ok, done a few chores like picking up a dump truck and taking it back to a location, the heists themselfs where laughable and forgettable. the only one that required a crew was the jewellery one, infact the only mission i enjoyed was the very first mission it felt like a proper hiest. you dont even get paid until the last mission. The main rivals are the FIB and they are forgettable characters. If you drive around the world you will see so many things left out and it looks like they are for Online, things like Horse tracks, casinos, arenas, Prisons. I don't know myabe I expected too much but I think gta V is a major letdown compared to all other gta games and even Red dead redemption. 95% of the game takes place in 10% of the map. And the 15 random events, which can be considered missions, and also the random events. I like how you go into detail for RDR, but fail to do so with GTA 5. Seems to me you havnt played the game yet. Actually 14 random events is the number required for 100%. There are A LOT more than that. There are 57 all up according to the strategy guide. The thing with GTA V is the checklist for 100% in game is a bit misleading. Take Strangers & Freaks for example. It says 20 when the real number is 58. To put things into perspective there are more Strangers & Freaks missions and random events (respectively) than the entire main story of RDR. Although I agree with you. He hasn't bothered to mention anything else to make his argument seem stronger than it is. I agree the main story was a tad on the short side, but this game has so much more than people give it credit for.

zainzombie
Like KillaDanny said: 69 missions on gta V, 58 Stranger & Freaks (secundary missions) 56 Random Events 59 Secondary Activities (Racing, parachuting, sports eTc...)and 700 are generated missions in GTA online If thats less for you............ just give up on gaming because EVERY game has like content of about 15 hours if you just play once. As far as numbers of storymissions goes, numbers donot matter its the quality and length of each mission. hadrianswall
things like go collect a car for a heist in the single player was classed as mission , so that 69 is very flattering . Edited October 1, 2013 by hadrianswall
