Ultra Fit Trio
Hello everyone.I'm new to the forum.Been playing GTA V for the past week and I enjoyed it pretty much. However, one thing I've noticed is that most of GTA games are set up in a fictional way based on cities like New York and Los Angeles,Las Vegas and San Francisco.I wonder whether Rockstar Group in general have sparks whether there will be GTA games in the near future based on cities like Tokyo,Shanghai,Hong Kong,London,Paris,Rome,Berlin and so on? Hopefully my question is not too much to ask for. Thanks.
MyLittlePony
I doubt there will be one. Why would you really want to play a GTA in Hong Kong? All it would be is subtitles and you'd probably have to run everywhere.

DeafMetal
You gotta try Sleeping Dogs. It plays a lot like GTA IV mixed with True Crime.
Pepperjack
The whole point of gta is it being a parody of america, i feel like it would lose it's charm if it weren't TheFreightTrain and Jack Parkinson

They already did have GTA London 1969, and of course, they included the # 69 in there, literally in the title
badawah
There is a lot of cities in Rockstarverse, but R* keep using only LA, NY and Miami in GTA (Actually these three were the cities in the first GTA video game. Los Santos, Liberty City and Vice City). You can see some other parodies (Like Carcer City and Cottonmouth in Manhunt series) and real cities (Such as Rio in Max Payne 3). LTA1992
You gotta try Sleeping Dogs. It plays a lot like GTA IV mixed with True Crime. Sleeping Dogs is technically True Crime: Hong Kong. mikeinthahouse
mikeinthahouse
Sleeping Dogs was awesome. But really, GTA should stay in the USA. Dan Houser provided an explanation for GTA London and not going back to it, but I forget what exactly...
Proletariat
Sorry, but the European options (except for London as a homage to Rockstar) simply won't do. They simply don't have the allure of crime, greed, pretention, over-the-top-excess, hypocrisy, and romantic disallusionment/nostalgia of a time long gone past when America was truly king. Now, American society has degraded so much in terms ethics, good politics (if politics were ever good), and morals that Rockstar must continue to satirize and make socio-political allegory of the modern American culture. Europe has evolved way beyond America in terms of progressivism and I simply don't understand why European citites should be parodied. But still, 'Murica is the greatest nation in the world and whether you guys like it or not, in the end America always wins. That's why R* continually parodies America. Everyone knows the effect of American culture, lifestyle, and media on rest of the world, hence it's easier to connect with the people and story when you're playing in the game.No one gives a flying f*ck about Paris, Rio, or Tokyo. These cities are just significant on paper. In reaity, the world only cares about America and what it does. No matter how much you loathe America, it's people, it's culture, it's military actions (many of which are debatable), America still makes the rules around here. When America says jump, Europeans all say how high! Because of the pretention America has, it's easy to parody and satirize us.
Jack Parkinson
I like the GTA series being based in the States. I would like to see a remake of the London games though but thats redoing a classic, nothing wrong with that.

You think a few corruption polls make America look better than the Eastern European nations? Are you trying to imply these Slavic nations are a good replacement of the States in the GTA series? No one in the world, I mean no one, would fully connect with any of the nations you mentioned in terms of Open-world gameplay except for Russia. And then again I could only see GTA taking a bleak turn towards comdenation of the after effects of a paleo-Stalinist society. Would be like GTA IV, except the main character wouldn't have to leave his country to go to America.
