GratuitousViolets
Just wondering if anyone else feels this way regarding the radio in the game. I was really looking forward to the radio stations and commercials in this game as they were utterly hilarious in the previous ones. However, I don't know if it's just me but both the music and quality of the commercials just really wasn't as good as it had been in the previous games and somehow doesn't "fit" the game almost (to me, at least, it didn't really 'set the scene' for me). In fact, this time around I can't find a SINGLE station I actually like listening to and other than maybe four songs, the rest is not to my taste. Kind of sad to have to switch the radio off when I get into a car just so I can listen to my iPod and something I do like. I expected the music for Los Santos to be a little more diverse and interesting. I haven't really found any of the talk shows or commercials really all that funny and even the DJs bits between songs were 'blah' in comparison to the previous game. It made the game a little less enjoyable for me than I expected it to be. Hope this topic hasn't been discussed before, only the SEARCH FEATURE isn't bringing up anything regarding it, and I haven't spied anything for several pages. Majestic123
Gta IV was horrible. This game so/so. Nothing spectacular. Vice and san andreas still had the best radio
Ragref
GTA IV had the best soundtrack ever. It wasn't any of that sh*t they put in SA which we already listened to a million times before SA came out. With IV, they had great songs you never listened to before. (maybe san juan sounds had already familiar songs because if you are a huge hispanic like me, you might have heard those songs before IV came out) Especially Radio Broker, that is my favorite radio station in the entire game, suicidehummer
Garethporlest21
Yeah I don't like it much. The classic rock station has some good tunes but they could be better. I dont like the lack of a modern/heavy rock station, I don't like punk so that station doesn't do it for me. The rap stations are okay, they have some good hits on there. Disappointed at the fact that there's only 1 talk show radio. The country station could be a bit better. Other than that the other stations I dont' even bother listening too. The blusey station isn't bad either.
GratuitousViolets
maybe you just have bad tase in music.... Really? That's your response? There's no need to get insulting just because you don't agree with my opinion. I could stoop to the same level and say the same of you if you like the music in the game? Music is a personal preference, not everyone likes Rap, country, or Funk. I just found there to be a lack of choice this time more than the previous times I've played GTA games. The commercials and talk radio were perhaps even more important than the music though, but it lacked here. The game has some awesome stuff going on, I know it can't get every thing 100% right, but radio was more important to me than...lets say...stock market. One of my favourite things to do in the other games was just drive randomly around with the radio on and enjoy the city. Haven't been able to do that as enjoyably this time around. cksiz
Too much joke music unless you're on the hip hop stations. I don't listen to country or classic rock but when I have explored these stations for something different, I only find songs that must be jokes recorded for the game. My parents listened to country while I was growing up, I know it's not THAT ridiculous. It's really too bad because the big money (outside assassinations) in terms of the stock market comes from radio tips. MurdocisGod1990
I thought it was pretty good, this is the best country station the series has ever had. Worldwide FM is pretty cool too. I love Gaslamp Killer now because of this game, and Los santos rock radio is awesome.

Incidentally I also found the lack of TV stations a bit depressing. Two shows on at any one time, both cartoons, lol. Those were things I used to adore, the little things. BettyBlueGT
I only listen to Non Stop Pop and the one with the Smokey Robinson songs and whoever has the Chicago and Michael McDonald songs and they are getting old.. Not much effort was put into this game as a whole.. Mostly heist and visuals are perfection. I remember GTA 5 o'clock was talking about when they visited the CEO guy he had monitors showing GTA 5 bugs and showing when they were fixed. Guess a lot of those bugs they skipped over. Edward-Is-A-Flunky45
Radio stations are good. People complaining about it are just close minded metal fans who can't listen to other things. I personally loved Worldwide FM and FlyLo FM.
suicidehummer
I feel like there is just less content to them. I'm already tired of all the songs, whereas in IV, I was still finding new songs I liked years after it came out. And the talk radio seems to be the same two skits repeating constantly. WCTR is just Fernando and the black dude (sounds like JB Smoove), and Blaine County Radio is the same Danny Mcbride skit every time. That and the skits just aren't as funny. I haven't laughed nearly as hard as I did from Judge Grady in IV. GratuitousViolets
YungEra
Not quite as great as VC and SA but it's good. Anything with Kendrick Lamar and Jane Child on it gets my props.
Tyleroh
Radio stations are good. People complaining about it are just close minded metal fans who can't listen to other things. I personally loved Worldwide FM and FlyLo FM. I agree that the stations/songs aren't that great compared to previous GTA games. I find this statement to be extremely ignorant. I like a few metal songs, never been a metal head. I prefer classic rock, and alternative rock. I'll listen to anything from Elton John, to Queen, to Weezer, to Ice Cube, to All That Remains, to The Temptations, to Johnny Cash, to Tenacious D, but the stations and songs, minus 4-5, aren't that good. The stations are a huge let down.
jc0187
Yea, the radio stations are a disappointment. Hopefully in a dlc maybe, they will add new songs or good radio stations. I used to almost pi$$ my pants with laughter on gta 4 talk stations or listening to commercials. Gta 5? Na, had a chuckle here and there but thats about all. AfterDeath
The rock/metal/punk/whateveryouwanttocallit station in IV was terrible. Channel X on GTA V isn't great either. LS Rock is a decent station though. I find myself liking the hip hop stations of V a lot. Nothing will compare with VRock from Vice City or Rise FM from 3 though. In a game where you go around killing people there needs to be more of an emphasis on rock and metal in the soundtrack rather than hip hop. kotaco
They put to much emphasis on rap and hip hop in these games, Vice city hands down had the best radio. I was expecting better in this one, Los Santos Rock Radio is pretty much the only one I like.

Liberty Rock is a decent station though. I find myself liking the hip hop stations of V a lot. Nothing will compare with VRock from Vice City or Rise FM from 3 though. In a game where you go around killing people there needs to be more of an emphasis on rock and metal in the soundtrack rather than hip hop. I find the hip hop stations to be the best even though this isn't GTA SA. The city this game is based on has such a wide range of great music I expected the same since this is not a gangster life based game. I listen to a fairly wide range of music with a couple exceptions (country, classic rock) and only really am entertained by the two hip hop stations. I just think there should have been more of everything. The stations may not be terrible but they're half as long as I would have hoped. That way when I jack a car I don't immediately switch away from the same weird country song I've heard a thousand times. Realistically radio playlists are usually only a couple hours if that anyway. I just feel if there's so much repetition on stations I don't even listen to that is a problem. Edited October 1, 2013 by cksiz
beretta-gt88
I feel the same about the music also, I can't beleive there's no MP3 player option in the vehicles since there moving towards realism. I have a 2013 Car and mine has a music port. I'm glad I have a Turtle Beach headset I can listen to my MP3 player while walking and during missions it's great. I don't think custom music will ever be a option in a GTA game

Old_BenKenobi
The radio stations are the worst since III, at least if you're a rock fan. I can see how the rap and pop people would be satisfied, but when the classic rock station is all pop cheese there is a serious problem. Aside from that, the song selection on the tolerable stations (Channel X and Rebel Radio) is way too small, so they get old fast. And it seems like there is less variety in the talk radio. The only talk radio in the game that I think is worth listening to is Chattersphere and Beyond Insemination, and both of those shows are too short and don't have any lasting appeal. Unless Radio Gaga, Baker Street or the General Lee is playing the radio turns off as soon as I get in a car.
CadillacGrilles
My biggest disappointment is Chattersphere... Not remotely near enough content. The talk shows in III and VC were the best to me. And yeah, the technology HAS to be there to have an "Aux In" option on the radio wheel to pick up whatever is on your consoles drive/USB/whatever. I've seen it a couple times on PC (APB). CReaper210
I think it's much better than GTA4. In GTA4, there was not a single station I liked. I might've switched between Beat and Rock radio, but I didn't really like any of the songs in there. In GTA5, I'm switching between Rock Radio, Non stop Pop, Radio Los Santos, West Coast Classics, Fylo, Channel X. And I seriously enjoy most of the songs in the game. Even the score of the game, when you have music switched off, is very well done IMO. But I understand that we don't all enjoy the same music, and I feel for you. I felt the same in GTA4. ThreattzZ
San Andrea's K-DST Playback FM Radio Los Santos GTA IV Switched to PC to use the Integrity FM Radio's were rubbish GTA V Non-stop POP - has quite a few good old tunes I think it's Radio Los Santos that plays maybe 2 good Dr Dre songs other than that I mainly turn the radio off. Oh yeah and seriously, I wouldn't care whatever other music they put in there if they had at least 2 decent Eminem songs. R* let me down there. I can't f*cking stand the dj on channel x. At all. I listen mostly to vinewood and the classics station and the two talk radio stations. I liked the talk radio stations. Especially Fernando, he was just great. But besides that I thought the radio was pretty meh, and what little there is for me to listen to has gotten old.
