SUPAH JD
Okay, a few question. I'm not trying to sound spoiled, but I relatively don't care if you considered me spoiled for bringing them up. First off, why is R* making it sound like there's going to be STRONG server issues when GTA Online pops up? Look, I'm not trying to be rude, but what the hell? I know this is their.. TECHNICAL first time doing something this big. But it seems like RDR Online came up fine, GTA 4 came up fine, etc. So why is this one going to have that many issues? Especially in one article, it mentioned for the first "few weeks". So.. what the hell were those two weeks of wait for? Why didn't they just release Online with the main game, so they could fix all the issues and keep building on from there. If they released it sooner, then couldn't they have just fixed most of the patches people found in the two week time frame then? Seems a bit stupid. Also, what's with this whole "Lack of servers" issue. Again, I apologize, but I can't feel sympathy for them "buying servers". They have sucessfully made so much profit, off the highest grossing video game of all time. Probably even more, and more to come, even MORE around Christmas most likely. So.. why the hell wasn't this prepped already? Again, I've been defending R* and GTA 5 for awhile now.. but this just seems kinda akward to me. It was GTA 5. I just feel they should've been prepped for these kind of situations.

Elemental716
I think its just because of the massive amount of people that will be overloading the servers. They will probably be looking at data and and issues that pop up in the first few weeks then determine what is needed to fix it. If they need to buy more servers then i'm sure they will. With any online game nowadays there is bound to be issues. With a game this complex and massive the probability of things going wrong is greater. Its like anything mechanical or electronic. The more the moving parts or pieces the more probability of something going wrong.
BettyBlueGT
Rockstar should have thought about this crap before they took on the idea of a 60/40 online game. And OP stop sounding like you gotta be careful not to disrespect Rockstar. They are a company and they kinda need customers.. So if I felt like it I'd tell them to go bleep themselves.. Do you see how much quality they have given us? They aren't EA or activision where they pull games out of their ass every year. And as someone stated above, the amount of people going to playing online is ginormous. Plus rockstar is setting up cloud servers and you can't do everything at once op. It's like a construction site, you have to build from the bottom until you achieve the finish product.

The more the moving parts or pieces the more probability of something going wrong. Yeah, but like I said. Wouldn't it have been smarter to release it with the damn game then? They could've watched as more players hopped onto the servers, and found out they needed to buy much more from the start. Truly, they should've started with the servers before the game even released, imo. Rockstar should have thought about this crap before they took on the idea of a 60/40 online game. And OP stop sounding like you gotta be careful not to disrespect Rockstar. They are a company and they kinda need customers.. So if I felt like it I'd tell them to go bleep themselves.. I don't want to disrespect them, because I've enjoyed all the games they've released so far. This is more of a minor issue. For me to say "f*ck you Rockstar", over such a massive update that I'd be getting for free is rather stupid.

Uh, yeah. Don't agree with any of that, but sure. CoD also doesn't have as much material on their servers. Plus, CoD is more so a multiplayer based game. Might as well be, anyway. I do think they're unprepared, but the other two, I also disagree with.
SmokeyTheBlunts
RDR online didn't work at all for me for maybe a year i would join a game and then i would get disconnected from the server, very strange.
Ola441
I'm 100% sure they didn't predict 17 million sales in one week... It would be incredibly arrogant for a dev to do that. They should have been ready but this has never been done before so... I give em a lil slack.

Worked damn well for me, and I had it day one. It's up there with my favorite games, if not my favorite game of all time.

I think Rockstar has the brains to know that the very words "Grand theft auto" generate so much hype and media attention that they knew they would make this much dough even if it was a Hello Kitty disc with GTA on the label.
