Invincibility Time Limit Discussion

You guys who seem to say: "They could've not put it in the game in the first place!"

 

Seem to forget that they went through effort to put that timer into that cheat code (which probably was inifinite for testing purposes in the first place).

 

This is why it's so f*cking pointless to have that timer and why it shouldn't have been added.

It isn't technical, if i'm able to enter the weather cheat about 20 times under a minute having the entire game world's weather changing instantly, not only affecting all roads, but visual, characters, animations etc.

 

Theeeennnn, i'm pretty sure the devs are capable of removing damage triggers (they don't even need to edit the animations to do it.)

 

I've got to say, it's the exact same as having a weapons cheat that gives you 5 of the 10 guns, these other 5 aren't especially important, or secret, nope, you just only deserve to have 5/10.

 

If you don't want the player to be invincible, then don't put the cheat in the game, or rather, don't call it invincibility.

It's like one of those Mario or Sonic pickups you get where you are untouchable for a few seconds.

Putting an infinite health cheat doesn't take effort at all, an infinite health cheat is pretty easy. Those retards added a dam timer on it, f*ck that company. This is the last gta game I buy. We have to call them out on there bullcrap

I never expected this topic to cause such an uproar. I agree that it sucks to only be invincible for 5 minutes at a time but if you can enter the cheat in the pause menu, what's the big deal? When the timer runs out pause the game, enter the code, unpause the game. How hard is that? I don't remember being able to input cheats in the pause menu of Vice City or San Andreas. If you couldn't put the health code in fast enough the cops would slay you. The cheats on the phone in GTA 4 kinda sucked in my opinion because it always interfered with running or getting in/out of vehicles.

 

I saw several complaints about not being able to use the cheats during missions. Someone please tell me which mission was so hard on GTA 5 that the player needed to be invincible to complete it. I've beaten the story mode twice and never found myself in a spot where I said, "If I just had invincibility I think I could make it through this mission."

 

Here's my theory and someone else said something similar to this in an earlier post: The only place I know to get the fighter jet and the C-130 cargo plane is the army base. With the cheat activated, it takes way less than 5 minutes to go in and snag either of them. Maybe they put the 5 minutes of invincibility in the game so that people could actually have access to the jet. It can still be aggrevating to get it out of there unless you pull the tank drivers out of their tanks so they don't destroy the plane. I have no idea how you would even attempt to steal anything from the army base without this cheat.

 

I do think a lot of people are overreacting to this. I used to play the missions, with cheats, on San Andreas and Vice City, but as I've grown older it seems to be more rewarding and more fun to beat the game unassisted.

 

I also agree with the person who said the only way to hope to get a change in this is to address Rockstar in a civilized, adult manner. Bitching, complaining, etc. is a really immature, ineffective way to get your point across. If enough people said something to them about it in a "this would gain my respect for your company and ensure repeat business in the future" kinda way, they might have a chance.

Does someone ever managed to enter this cheat in the pause menu on a PS3 after all the latest patch, tried to do this so many times I got cramps in my fingers, the code works I would say 30% of the time if I'm doing it in normal play mode, but 0% if I try to do it in the pause menu...

I don't cheat often enough for this to really bother me, but think about this: If the time limit was 60 minutes, would we be having this conversation? But think about this too: maybe R* doesn't want you to use the invincibility cheat. they figured that only the people who REALLY want to be invincible would go through the trouble of entering it every 5 minutes, while the rest play the game without it like they intended.

 

Like I said before, Is it inconvenient? Yes

Is it enough to change my opinion of the overall game? No

 

I don't see the logic of including such a feature in the game if you don't want people to use it. And where does R* get off telling us how to play their game? What if I just want to shoot important characters (I wanted to shoot Chop so bad on the first mission)? What if I don't care to play missions and I just want to run around and kill people? What if I don't even want to play story at all and just bought the game for online?

 

Not saying that is my intent, but it just seems silly to me. They crafted an experience but the player is by no means confined to that. Once they purchase the game they can do what they want with it. That's just the way I see it.

 

Yeah their limiting our free roam fun for no reason. I mean the invincibility cheat is like 'Ok have fun but ONLY for 5 minutes'. WTF

Are you making sure to hide the menu by pressing triangle before you enter the code? That's the only way to get it to work for me on Xbox.

Are you making sure to hide the menu by pressing triangle before you enter the code? That's the only way to get it to work for me on Xbox.

 

Since I have a PS3, yes I hide the menu with triangle, but so far, no luck with the cheats, and I'm so good with entering it this time, I really wonder why no more cellphone numbers, it was so much easier this way...
